Staying home and just trying to get some rest. What is should have done!
Three days before I left Monterrey, wher I had my plastic surgery, I did a dumb thing.
The weather had been yucky with light rain and a little cold, for days, so, when it got nice, I wanted to get out. I dressed in regular clothes nice shirt, and jeans, just a little snug, because of the swelling, with of course my compression garment underneath and my last drain. We went to the river walk, where is is beautiful. We used the shuttle and borrowed the wheel chair from the Hampton Inn and I pushed my 83 year old mother around, she can walk but this would have been too much.
Well, it was great, we had a nice day, people watching, and a little lunch outside by the river.
The trouble is the next day, when the nurse Patty came to help me with my dressings, my right groin stitches wore swollen, now this is the day before I am supposed to get my stitches out.
We took the shuttle right then to see Dr. Sauceda, who examines me and says that it has a hematoma ( swelling caused by a build up of blood ). There is thank God, no infection. I will now have to wait at least a week to get my stitches out. which means, I will have to have it done once I get home by my PCP.
My Dr at home is and has been behind everything that I have had done because, it is making me a healthier patient. I would wanted him to examine me anyway but, Please, learn from, my mistake...
When you are down there in Mexico or when you get back, DO everything to enhance your chance for the best recovery. Going backwards takes a lot longer time to heal. Which is what I am doing now. Also when you are in your room, watch what you eat and drink, eat healthy meals so, your body will heal better and faster. We as obese people tend to overeat when we are bored or anxious or stressed. This, of course is also not good for recovery. In my mind, I thought: hey, I'm on vacation why not eat this and that, well you know how we tend to do... this and that, tend to be high in calories or fatty and salty.
So, I'm back at my house now, and just nursing my hematoma where I could have been just having some rest and recuperation. Please learn from this.. Bard

That doesn't sound too good Bart. It is easy to overdo if you start feeling better. Get plenty of rest.

Oh, don't get me wrong. If I hadn't had this hematoma, I would still be home, doing the same thing. My thoughts were, that you want to do EVERYTHING, you can do to help yourself.
I'm not in pain, I don't have any infection and I had planned to see my PCP anyway..
I just wanted to get it off my chest and it might help someone else! Bard

I'm just glad it's nothing more serious! So, other than that, how is your recovery going?
You know...you're probably the biggest reason I've been seriously thinking about even the possibility of getting plastics. You've been so open and truthful about all your proceedures, I thank you for that and want you to know it makes a difference to the rest of us!
