The answer is "it depends". Every surgeon has their own criteria, I know the draw of the DS for many people is that with a VSG, you can take aspirin and other NASIDs because their is no blind stomach. At the same time, some surgeons suggest that you do not.
I take Advil as needed, but I had an issue with it preop because I took 1600 mg a day for over 3 years..and it kind of irritated my stomach, so I can't take it regularly anymore.

MEGGIE-just to confuse things further-please ask your friend to read the bottle and follow the DIRECTIONS, unless otherwise specified by the PHYSICIAN (and I bet was NOT). IMHO nobody should take over 2 Excedrin Migraine, in a single dose, period. The excess pills/caps won't help the headache, and will just choke up the body organs, making the med harder to excrete and throw off-whether you had ANY surgery or not...not THAT answered your question....
