Here's another flashback Christmas song, it's Chuck Berry's Run Rudolph Run....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCTeXUkTFwQ
Out of all the reindeer you know you're the mastermind
Run, run Rudolph, Randalph's ain't too far behind
Run, run Rudolph, Santa's got to make it to town
Santa make him hurry, he can take the freeway down
Run, run Rudolph a whizzing like a merry-go-round
Said Santa to a boy child "What have you been longing for?"
"All I want for Christmas is a Rock and Roll electric guitar"
And away went Rudolph a whizzing like a shooting star
Run, run Rudolph, Santa's got to make it to town
Santa make him hurry, tell him he can take the freeway down
Run, run Rudolph a whizzing like a merry-go-round
Said Santa to a girl child "What will please you most to get?"
"A little baby doll that can cry, sleep, drink and wet"
And away went Rudolph a whizzing like a Saber jet
Run, run Rudolph, run, run Rudolph yeah...
Run, run Rudolph, run, run Rudolph, run, run Rudolph
Santa Claus is coming to town
Run, run Rudolph, Santa's got to make it to town
Santa make him hurry, he can take the freeway down
Run, run Rudolph a whizzing like a merry-go-round
Run, run Rudolph, run, run Rudolph yeah...
Run, run Rudolph, run, run Rudolph, run, run Rudolph
Santa Claus is coming to town
Ya'll have a great day my friends!

After the truth was known about Santa we, my family, began doing X-mas on X-mas eve so we could sack in X-mas day. Ex-wife's family would "house hop" starting at the crack of dawn. Cycle is repeating itself, for them, since there are now grandchildren/great nephews.
Short work week. Have the "formal" X-mas dinner tonight after work. This is the one with city council members, Mayor and families. Will have to make hot shot home to feed dog her supper and change clothes. Then again leaving my vest on may not be a bad idea!

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!
One Christmas tradition that we've done and I'll continue to do is every year everyone gets a new ornament. Mom picks out special ornaments for everyone and they all have stories about them. I've started this year with Natalie and will continue to do that every year.

On Christmas eve we always had 3 parties to make the rounds at, very dressy! And we went to midnight services at church! When we got older we often tipped a few too many and didn't make it to church! Hee hee hee! Christmas day we had to have breakfast with cranberry pineapple juice and then did stockings and only then were we allowed to see the tree! Each person opened one gift at a time so we could all oohh& ahh or laugh our coleectives butts off then we would havelate lunch! This is still the way we do things, it would be weird to do it any other way!!

After reading Meggie's post I'm feeling like a dud! lol
Our tradition is the kids get new pj's on Christmas Eve. This way everyone wakes up looking sharp for pictures instead of wearing a mismatched assortment of t-shirts and boxers, etc. Nobody wants a picture of their kid with all the presents looking angelic in front of the tree wearing a holey Hard Rock Cafe shirt from years past and a pair of pink boxers that were originally bought in white. "yes dear, that's the year we spent a million dollars on you but nonetheless you look homeless in your dad's vacation t-shirt from Spring Break 1980" Kaylee was telling me that she would prefer not to have a flannel set of pj's this year. I guess they've caught on after 18 or so years.... lol
One year my mom sewed matching gowns for her and I. I wore that thing until it absolutely fell apart. It was circa 1975ish and was cream with orange and brown flowers. I looked like Laura Ingalls Wilder in Little House on the Prairie.
A day and a half of work! Yeehaw! We get out at 12:15 Wednesday and believe me I am going to hit the door waddling! lol I am so tired!
Gotta get back to doing my job so I'll be ready for Wednesday!

My whole childhood was full of traditions- especially Christmas. We always made Christmas cut out cookies that we made 1 night and then iced the next. We had every color we could make of icing and tons of sprinkles, cinnamon dots, etc. If a cookie broke then we got to eat it so mine always "broke" full of icing. Lol. Christmas eve' we could open 1 present in between the 2 services and my dad would always make some kind of soup for dinner.
Wed usually get matching nightgowns from my grandparents.
I got Emily and Abby pjs- monkeys for Abbie and Elmo for Emily.
Thanks everyone for sharing your traditions. I love reading them!!
