Day 1 of 2 week pre-op

Had my pre-op appt. yesterday - came home with a patient manual that I've got to read through. Then went straight to the hospital to do all the paperwork and get blood work drawn, etc.

Started on my first shake this morning. Not too bad except I miss my Starbucks latte! Hardest part is that we are celebrating the 12 days before Christmas vacation and my principal is providing food everyday! I am avoiding the teacher's workroom just so I'm not tempted. The kids only go 1/2 day on Dec. 17 and we're having a big luncheon with baked ziti, etc. I'd like to stay in my classroom for lunch, only because I don't feel like answering all the questions about why I'm not eating. My team knows I'm having WLS, but I haven't told everyone at school yet. Figured I'll tell people afterwards as I start losing the weight.

Any hints from you veterans on what makes these next two weeks easier?

You can do this.  You can.  My surgeon required a two week liquid only regimen as well.  I understood it was to shrink my liver in order for him to do my surgery laproscopically.  I had my surgery in Mexico.  I was too afraid not to follow his instructions.  I lost 13 pounds!
Rachel Ray's beef broth saved me.  I was so tired of the sweetness of protein shakes.  Some people swear by Unjury's chicken soup which is high protein.

Take it a day (or a meal) at a time.  Keep busy.  Stay out of the kitchen.  Doing this at Christmas is admirable.  The rewards will be many!!!  Best of luck.  When it gets rough, post!

Stay away from the smell of food as much as possible.  I was on my 2-week liquid diet around July 4th and our plant had a big July 4th BBQ and they cooked it in the kitchen in my building.  I finally left and went shopping to get away from the smell.  It lingered so I still had to endure it, but you just have to put your mind to it and tough it out.

It will all be worth it to have your system cleaned out and your liver shrunk to make it easier to maneuver the instruments laproscopically.

Good luck!  Your surgery date will be here soon - WOO HOO!

How is the liquid going today? This is sooo hard! I am on my first full day. Yesterday, I caved and had a piece of baked chicken. Today has been a LONG day because I have been home. I bet it will be better at school away from the kitchen. Good luck, sweetie!
