I have a date!

and I'm freaking out just a little. You all have been a great source of comfort during this journey. I started it back in August saying how scared/unsure I was about this entire process and trying to get my head wrapped around the fact that this surgery is the last "tool" I have to get this excess weight off.

The process has gone quicker than I expected. I've done my 3-month nutriotional and had my psych consult. Had a visit with Dr. G two weeks ago. I had only lost about 5 lbs. of the 30 he wanted me to lose and wanted to see my again yesterday. I managed to lose another 8 (even with a birthday and Thanksgiving during that time period).

When I saw him yesterday, he was pleased that I had lost some more. I fully expected him to say he wouldn't do the surgery until I lost more, but he told me to schedule the date. Walked me right out to the lady who schedules surgeries and we did booked it right then.

Then...I got home and realized I agreed to December 22. What was I thinking??? Now, I'm a little stressed about the possibility of not being home Christmas Eve, but everyone assures me that if all goes well, I should be in and out in three days.

When I get a moment to let it all sink in, I'll post with the questions I have.

Thanks.

What a GREAT Christmas present to yourself - CONGRATULATIONS !!!

I only stayed one night in the hospital and went home the next day, but that isn't typical.  You should be going home on Christmas Eve, barring any issues (very rare with Dr. G).

Thanks. I haven't had time to think of it as a Christmas present to myself. Maybe I'll have to ask Dr. G to tie a red bow around himself before they wheel me into surgery!

CONGRATULATIONS !!

You'll be home for Christmas Day probably...............surgery on 22, spend the night - - maybe another night (I stayed for 2 nights) and when home on the 3rd day..........

I wouldn't have a problem post-poning Christmas for a day -  for this PRESENT !!  lol

  • Pease check out Dr. Connie Stapleton's Website. A lot of good information on there for all WLS patients regardless of the surgery you chose.  Good luck to all and I'm here for you if you want to send me an email.  I'll answer it as soon as possible.
