Wow, I can not believe it has been so long since I have been on OH.  Lets see I am three + yrs out.  I have lost and I have gained and am now trying get back on track.  I have a balcony person at work that is very motivating and helpful ( thanks Steph)  I had completely gotten away from all weight loss info and guess what happened!  I NEED HELP.  Yes I have started back exercising, now to just get more frequent with it.  I am now again watching what and how much I eat.  Powerful words I read " the surgery only changes the size of your stomach"  the rest is  now up to me.  I did not go to my annual Doc appt due to the fact I did not want to face my surgeon weighing more than I had the yr before.
Would love to hear words of wisdom......

I'm in the same boat and have been away from OH for well over a year....I tend to gain weight in the winter due to the cold and not being as active and losing in the summer months.  Right now I'm about 15 pounds over where I want to be.  So I've started hitting the exercise routine again and watching what I eat better.  I know how to lose it and keep it off....but lately I lack motivation. In fact you might could say I'm just down right apathetic. LOL . I'm 30 months out and really need help and support myself!

I don't know that I've got words of wisdom for you Donna, but you are in the same place some of us are in.  I sure understand wanting to wanting to NOT go weigh in at the dr.  I have made myself go anyway.  They are always supportive.  The best thing I can tell you to do is be accountable for what you eat.  Paige starts up an accountability post each morning.  It was Steph's idea to start it 2 years ago and we've kept it up and it sure helps.  If you are honest and report back in what you've eaten you are much more likely to stick to your original plan or fairly closely to it.

You can do it!

Donna, take Stephanie up on support.  She is very motivated to stay at goal.  Having someone close to work through the ups and downs is key IMO to staying at a reasonable weight.

If you don't mind sharing how much have you regained?  Are you aware of what your triggers are?  Emotional eating tends to get me more often than I care to admit; trying to realize the "need" to eat vs. true hunger is something I have to watch very carefully.

Steph is a great role model.  We had our lap bands together and our RNY about two wks apart.  She has done so well!
I have regained 25lbs.
I am proud to say I weighed thur and had actually lost a few lbs!  ( didn't believe it and and even rebalanced the scales and weighed again.  lol)
Every day is a challenge, today I succeeded in taking the stairs all day and not giving in to the urge to go sneak gram crackers.
supper was another story.  when I got home there was the choice of waffles or cheese dip!  not wanting to break out the turkey or ham I ate cheese dip and fear I will be pay for it shortly!
I have never been good at planing my meals, drinking water, and just plain burned out on the protein drinks.  so I have lots of little goals to work on!

Donna, it took courage to post!  It comes down to getting back to the basics.  There are many people on this board with such wisdom and strength.  Lean on them!  And become accountable and honest with yourself.  Most days I do it a day at a time.  Some days it's a meal at a time.  We all know what to do.  We've done it.  We can do it again!

DONNA-Welcome back! Coming back here-especially when things are not all "fairy farts and rainbows" takes ALOT OF COURAGE and I commend for that, all by itself. I also commend you on WEIGHING, and catching that 25 lbs before it became 50...75...100...You have gotten some GREAT advice here from our very SMART family members.

I'd just like to add: If you were scared to go see your doc, am I correct in thinking you probably haven't had your annual labs done either? You and I both know how important those are, and labs-along with vitamins-are things we signed up for-FOR LIFE-when we agreed to have our guts rearranged. Pls make an appt ASAP. Your mind is obviously in the right place-let's see where your health is too.

Pls post often-would LOVE to get to know you better. STEPH is very, very special to me and she gave you the "thumbs up"..lol...so you must be "good people".

awww, thanks so much!  I have had some labs here and there, this past yr I had to have Iron infusions and I know my vit D and B12 have been checked so I was thinking I was good lab wise.
I hear steph talk about all of you and have been envious of the friendship and support I see she has.  For such a long time I did not want it to be all about the Surgery.  But life has a funny way of letting you know what needs to be up front!
My first goal is to stay connected!!  Next time steph has all of you in town I may be inviting myself!!!
