I had a lap band in 6-24-04, removed in 7-3-06 because it slipped, another lap banb in 8-26-07 another slippage and now I am schedule for a gastric bypass Jan 5 2011....I am wondering if this is a right choice for me....I would appreciate any comments on this subject.

Even with all my complications I would do it again in a heartbeat!! Do your research, and ask yourself can I live within these parameters the rest of my life? I can and I do! Top weight 330lbs this morning 132lbs!

Which procedure have you done?  If lap band did you have trouble w/ slippage?

had  RNY. My Docs call me exotic! Think of anything weird happening and it happened! Warned Doc ahead of time my body would go weird on him, he believes me now!! My biggest problem is that I make 3-4 times the scar tissue most people make.

You're talking about scar tissue, have you had other surgeries before the RNY?  Like I said earlier I've had 2 lap band replacements because of slippage they tell me my revision might take 4 to 5 hours because of scar tissue, did you have any complications?

Hopefully Stephanie G. will be along to comment.  She had a lapband-RNY revision and has had no complications and been extremely successful!  Made it to goal and has kept it off.

I also have a friend who never lost more than 20 pounds with a lapband and had it converted to RNY and has lost a lot of weight with no complications.

Good luck with your surgery!

With each lap band replacement I had great succes until the day I realized I couldn't swallow water....started out at 263 got down to 125 kept it off for 2 yrs, 2nd band 220 down to 115 lbs good for another 2 yrs, now the 3rd surgery the revision I am weighing 192, the RNY is schedule for 1-05-11, hopefully this will be my last trip, I am so looking forward to it I am starting to get all the symptoms back that caused me to have the surgeries in the first place and I feel miserable.
