An Update on My Son's MIL
Over the last 18 months or so, I had been asking for prayer for my son and his family as they took in his MIL to stay at their house while she was in hospice care. Highly unusual I would think to have someone in hospice for so long.
Well, she has been taken off of hospice care and has moved into an assisted living facility. She is not getting "better" but she is not getting worse.
Thanks for your prayers.

George-thanks for the update. I've often wondered what happened to Oleta's mom. Actually, people "graduate" from Hospice all the time. When you first get admitted, you get two 90 "cert" periods, then it goes to 60 day periods. The "team", including the Medical Director, review each person's info at "cert time", and, if they no longer meet "Medicare criteria for Hospice"...and it's VERY strict, you have to discharge them, or it's Medicare FRAUD, and you sure don't want to go there. So...she must be somewhat "better"..medically, at least...and if she can leave in an AL, instead of a "regular" nursing home, that's good too. We (Hospice) have the same people come "on" and "off", then back "on" all the time, as their condition changes--they just need to be re-evaluated, re-admitted, etc, and the cycle starts over, with 60 day cert periods. If you have any questions, you know where to find me. Sometimes I know stuff!
