The Journey 11/11

Today I want to talk about something I never had enough of - ENERGY!

What do you do to get your energy up?

By the time I pick up the babies each morning, take them to school, get them settled down with breakfast, and go to my office, I'm wiped! Then in the afternoon, I pick them up and either take them to my apartment or their house. At their house I frequently do a couple of loads of laundry before I go home. I walk into my place, hunt down some dinner, get on the computer for a bi****ch television (which usually means pass out), and go to bed.

I need energy! I need exercise! I need motivation!

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Morning Lynne,

Are you taking B-12?  I know when my energy is running low I have to step back and make sure all is still in place and that I am taking all vitimins.
I take b-12 injections once a week, and sublingual every other day
Now, believe it or not if you would come home maybe start dinner or at least have dinner prepared and instead of going to the TV go outside and just walk around your complex; fresh air and a walk will clear you mind and get you ready for your night time activities.
as well as building up your energy.  Start slow, but just do it...LOL

Hope you have a wonderful day today Lynne

Lynne, B-12 might help you like Mel said.  Maybe you should consider a little more "me" time.  I bet your daughter and son in law could handle their 3 children themselves and you could see them as often as you like without having so much responsibility every day.  I bet you would be a little more energetic then!  I know that would be hard as much as you love being around them, but it's reality.

Again, i 2nd or 3rd the B-12, also the iron.
Also, for pete's sake... since when are you a full time nanny for your daughter and SIL when you already have a full time job.  Hell if i did all that, MAYBE i would even sleep at least 1/2 hour.  I know you love and adore the babies, but its their PARENTS job to care for them, not yours...nor is it your job to be your kids maid.
put your foot down and stop doing all that for them.. and you will then have time to plan a healthy meal for yourself and then have time to walk, which will help you with the energy thing.
I say this with love as you are giving all your energy away... which is why you dont have it.. you need more ME time..

Well, when my daughter is working, she doesn't get home until 5-6 and I get off at 3 p.m., so I take the babies home. Right now, she isn't even allowed to drive, so that's why I'm picking them up in the mornings, and the last couple of months of her pregnancy she wasn't supposed to be lifting them at all. My soninlaw works way over on the north side of town, and frequently doesn't get home until 7.

Hopefully once Tara gets back to work, she'll be able to do more of the driving. The laundry? Well, I kind of pitched in on that as she seems incapable of keeping up with it and it was driving me crazy for there to be mountains of laundry every single day.

I really should go for a walk when I get home in the afternoons, especially while it's mild out.

As far as B12 - I have really been bad about taking my supplements.

As far as B12 - I have really been bad about taking my supplements.  WELL - DUH !!  Thats why you have no energy -   you are preaching to the choir here !!       GET ON THOSE DERN THINGS - NOW !!!
After listening to the Vitamin jungle schpeel last weekend at the conference - I stepped back and started over........here is what I decided to do now and have been faithful since Monday -  water logged is putting it mildly........but I'm using my vits out on my desk as my "go to  - reach for something snack thing in my head" and reaching for those vits instead and getting them in.....haven't noticed any difference yet on anything......but who knows - it will probably take a long week or 2 or more to feel the difference....

2 multiple vits chewable -  bariatric vits    - 2x a  day    1 dose in am......1 dose in pm..bedtime.
6 citrical petites  ( 1 at a time)  to stretch them out..through the day...these are killing me
4  Vit D3.(2000mg) each....... because my prev labs several times have indicated that i'm low.
b12 complex subligual in the am and a couple under the toungue thru the day....
My doc won't give me RX for the b-12 shot or syringes.....so unable to do those weekly - but I wouldn't have a problem giving them to myself if I could
  • Pease check out Dr. Connie Stapleton's Website. A lot of good information on there for all WLS patients regardless of the surgery you chose.  Good luck to all and I'm here for you if you want to send me an email.  I'll answer it as soon as possible.

im not bashing your dau or SIL, however, im confused.  You said when you daughter is working she doesnt get home until 5-6 and you get off at 3.  Then you stated once she gets back to work she will be able to do more driving. Is she or isnt she working?
All we are saying is... you are doing way too much for your grown children... let them hire a part time nanny if they need that much help as YOU obviously need YOU time.

She isn't working right this minute, she just had a baby on October 31st. She hasn't been released yet for driving (she had a c-section).

Have you had your thyroid checked lately?  Low thyroid can cause low energy levels also in addition to low iron and low B-12.

As far as all the energy you are putting into your babies - I know you love them and want to do what you can for them, but I would be exhausted also if I had your routine - I know I was when I was 10 years younger and doing all of that.  You daughter will figure out another way if you back off on some of the things you are doing.  As long as you are providing all those services for her she doesn't need to.  And it isn't up to you to figure it out.

You don't have to cut everything out - just decide what is really important to you and scale back so you aren't so tired all the time.  If you don't and end up ill so you can't, then what would they do?  My guess is they would manage.

Speaking of supplements.......  when were your last labs drawn by Dr. Garth?

Last labs with Garth were in February - they were fine except for D-3 and I'm on special high dose supplements for that. I also have labs every six months for my endocrinologist. I do have thyroid issues but it is being monitored.

I think I'm just tired. On the cruise I was in bed by 9 p.m. every night and slept until 6 a.m. most days (except for one at 4 a.m.)
