Houston Area LAP or REALIZE BAND Support Groups?
Hi There,
I am looking for individuals that have had similar surgery as myself for support. I need some serious help to get my motivation back up. I am going between 50 - 60 pounds lost in a year and a half. It is depressing to see that I have only lost that much weight. I would have thought by now I would have been at goal weight.
I have had some medical complications during this journey though. I just need to speak and see the success that others have with BAND I guess that are in my area. I am in the Clear Lake area. Just curious...

Not sure if there is anything down in your area... I'm up North in the Woodlands area. I was banded about 2.5 years ago and have been lucky to not have had any complications. How much weight are you wanting to lose? When was your last fill? If you have any questions that you don't want to answer or if you have some to ask feel free to pm me if you want!

Houstonbandsters@yahoo,com is a large group and has several sites for meetings. Also University General Hospital group meets the 2nd Wed at the hospital on Fannin in Houston from 630-8:30pm, Also the Alvin group meets the 3rd Sat of the month in Alvin at Casa Ole Hwy35/Hwy 6 at 1:30pm.

I'm glad you asked because I am starting to feel the same way. I have been banded and since my surgeon moved to another hospital, and our regular support groups got cancelled because the dietitian moved, I'm waiting to hear about the support groups @ the new hosptial.
I would love to talk to other people who have had the lap band/realize so we can compare stories/recipes, and get each other motivated about eating right and exercising.
I'll look into the other groups for now because I have got to do something. I'm around the Med Center so the UGH meetings would be alright for me.
