Southwest Bariatric/Capitol Surgeons Austin TX
I was wondering if anyone has used any surgeon from there, and if so what was your 2 week pre-op diet. My surgeon will be Dr. Faulkenberry and Im just trying to get a an idea of what to expect for my pre-op diet. Any experiences with this surgeon or any other surgeon from this office would be greatly appreciated Thank you
We were not able to use Dr. Faulkenberry for my husband's surgery - our insurance required we use a certified Bariatric center and Austin did not have one at the time. BUT we did have use Dr. Faulkenberry for an emergency consult last week - hubby was 1 week post op and developed a severe infection and we were in Austin and our doctors were in Houston.
I was quite impressed with the quality of care and attention we received from Dr. Faulkenberry.
I would not hesitate to use him as I really, really liked his caring concern. We found him to be excellent!
Cheers, Tee

I had surgery with Dr. Longoria there. I've been completely pleased with him and the care I've received. I'm assuming that since the preop diet is given by the nut that it will be the same for you as it was for me even though we have different doctors, but YMMV. Basically, the diet is a high protein/low carb diet but you're on your own as to how you eat during the day. The day before surgery is clear liquids only but the rest is just really really sensible eating. Plenty of protein and no more than 30 carbs in one day. This is harder than it sounds when you realize that pretty much everything other than meat, eggs, and cheese have some carbs to them. I lived mostly on turkey and cheese omelettes prior to surgery.
