Pouch Troubles
I had a similar problem where I could not solid food and I tried to eat them threw it right back up. I had the dilation done and that did not help me at all. My surgeon ran test the same day of the dilation on my gall bladder. After about two more weeks of only able to keep liquids done the surgeon removed my gall bladder and it was a additional month before I could eat solid foods. Everyone progresses differently through the different food stages and then surgeons have their own schedules of progression but by 8 weeks generally from what I have read you should be able to eat solid . I got through my issue with the help of my surgeon and a nutritionist I hired. I had my gastric bypass in October 2009 and gall bladder removed in December 2009 and finally able to really eat solid foods in January 2010.
However, the dilation is a walk in the park. When I had it done I was sedated the surgeon checked for blockages and everything 30 minutes later I was waking up within a hour I was on my way home. Do not let the procedure scare you it is fairly common and in my case painless. It is one of the first things they look at when this problem occurs is to make sure the opening to the pouch hasn't swollen up. It is not good if you can not eat solid foods many people will tell you here on the board. It is natural to be scared as you had major surgery to help you lose weight and now you can not eat solid foods. You wonder what can possibly be wrong. Rest assured your surgeon will get to the bottom of the problem and help you through this issue. Believe me I hated the throwing up and would have gone through anything to stop throwing up and eat solid food like normal. I wish you luck and pray for a speedy recover through this difficult time for you.
