Houston Support Groups?

Hi everyone!  I am new to the Texas Board, but am on the RNY board all the time.  My surgeon has moved to another hospital and the NUT who was leading the monthly RNY support groups just moved to LA to work at Cedar Sinai Hospital.  We have been told there will be no more support groups held.  I left a message about a week ago at my surgeon's office as he moved to the Methodist Hospital, but have not received any calls back as to when their groups are held.  I'm only 8 weeks out from surgery and have been attending the support groups pre-op as well as the 2 post-op before they were stopped.  I really feel this is important, so I'm reaching out to ya'll to see if you know any other groups held in the Medical Center.  I work at St. Luke's Medical Center Campus, but live in Tomball.  With that said, anywhere in between those 2 would work for me!

My Dr.s clinic is on your side of town...sort of....Gessner and I-10 at Herman Memorial. The Davis Clinic. Meetings are 3rd Tuesday at 6:30p

Are they open to others who haven't been seen by Dr's Davis?

I'm pretty sure they are. I don't go often because it's on the opposite side of Houston from me but I remember ladies there from other Dr.s around the medical Center. I'll ask and find out for sure.

University General Hospital on Fannin at Old Spanish Trail has a very active support group. They meet the 2nd Wed at 6:30-8:30p. They have a nutrtionist and psychologist and exercise person. Every month has a good topic.  Also the Pasadena  OH group meets the 2ns Monday from 6:30-8:30p .They meet at Panera Bread corner of Beltway 8 and Fairmont.  They are also open to all bariatric surgeries and pre/postop patients.  Methodist also has a support group that meets the end of the month. I'll contact a friend for the exact time.

 Diana.....you might want to check the Groups list in the community ( in the first blue line above ).    I know that Sean Nichols leads lots of different support groups all around the Houston area.   Sorry I can't supply the names of the groups but since I am not from Houston not sure of the names.    I am sure as large as Houston is you should have no problems at all finding one.   You may also want to post this during the week......the TMB is pretty dead on the weekends.   Many of us will not be posting this week though.    32 of us are going on a cruise tomorrow and won't be back till saturday,    Have a great week and hopefully someone will answer your question with lots of different options for you.   Good luck.

The Center of Excellence Dr. Sherman is now directing is comprehensive with support groups.  Visit www.methodistweightmanagement.com , and that might provide more info for you.  Also, I will contact Barbara, at his office, and find out more info for you.  I followed Dr. Sherman to Methodist.
