ok, I am three years out and seems like every time I go to the dentist he discovers another cavity!  anybody notice more cavities after WLS?  My calcium is good, so don't think that's it...just curious!  thanks....

Diane.......I haven't really noticed that.  Although I don't go in for regular checkups like I should either.    Good luck to you on the cavity problems.

yes, this has been an issue for me. I am three years out and have have more cavities since surgery than i have in my entire life! i only had one as a kid, and now have had three fillings since surgery. I dont know why, of course the dentist cant explain it.

Yep, I've had alot more teeth and gum problems.  I go to the dentist all of the time, but my labs are good too.

I haven't had an issue with cavities, but I really didn't before surgery either.

hi diane i have only had one filling in my life and had to go to the dentist for my gums swelling and my face was swollen - now i have two cavities and i am grinding my teeth and that is making my gums swell and protrude and i am not sure why my labs have come back WAY better but i am getting labs done again i am really not sure why this affects surgery people but i do know several who have lost teeth or have had teeth just break off but they know and have said they havent taken vitamins in years....

who knows there is not enough data out there i guess... my dentist asked if i could take ibuprofene for the swelling and i told him no i had wls and his eyes opened wide now i have to wear a mouth guard to keep my from grinding my teeth even at work since i do it when i am stressed and at night....

this summer went to dentist for the 1st  time in about 18yrs!! he was stunned what good shape my mouth was in!! Especially since i had wls. he says many have tooth decay after surgery from the foamies and vomiting and vit deficiencies! doesnt happen to all but some do have trouble!! it is about the onlyproblem I havent had!

In my 3 years post-op not a single cavity.  I go every 6 months for my cleaning and so far all is good.
