New to OH, also new to TX!

Hello OH, I have been reading a ton of post on here, and I am loving this site!  I am Monica (Mon) a Mommy of 2 tots, and a Military wife.  I am on my journey toward RNY.  Tonight is my first meeting with my surgeon, it is the offices seminar.  I have read and researched so much about this surgery, and I am ready to get this proccess on the road!  I am 5'8" 260 lbs, BMI 39, I was initially given my referral because I had surgery for scoiliosis in 1999 and my weight is beginning to effect my spine, causing a lot of pain.  We moved to El Paso TX about a month ago, and we are loving it.  Thank you for any support or info you all have for me!  I hope someday I can be helpful to someone else who is new to this!

Welcome to the TMB-feel free to ask any and all questions.  This site is not nearly as busy as it used to be but there are still a lot of "old-timers" around to answer your questions.  My biggest recommendation is to pick the most experienced surgeon you can find.  Make sure you know how many he has done and his complication rate.  Experience is the best indicator of a good outcome.

 Welcome to the TMB Monica and the state of Texas !!!!  As Stephanie said our TMB is NOT nearly as busy as it use to be.    But you will get to know us all pretty quickly.   Good luck with your surgery and journey.

Hi MON!! Welcome to the family! No question is ever a dumb question, and you're not going to so/say/think/ask anything at least one of us hasn't done before. I've been around here a long, long time, and have made lifelong "family of choice" peeps thru here. I trust these people with my life. I am 8.5 years post RNY, and have made lots of rights/wrongs along the way. Remember-it is a JOURNEY-not MAGIC-not a QUICK fix..but we will be herr for you, every step of the way, if you let us.

Thank you all so much!  I went to the seminar today, my surgeon is very very good at what he does.  He has his numbers and percentages right there in black and white for me.  My first appointment with him is Sept 22nd, YAY!!!  Again thank you all for the support and warm welcome!
