Y'all sound like a great group of people!  I will definitely want to keep in touch.  If you know that your doc allows other surgeon's patients into their support group let me know.  I will definitely have to come to the one at Ikea!

If I do end up seeing Dr. Stewart in Denton I will definitely be in need of a local support group.  I don't think i want to make this journey alone and the rest of my family won't get what I'm going through.

I had my surgery done in Houston so this is an open support group. Various folks from all over.

Ikea is way too north for me even though I have to drive north to work....I get off work at 2:30pm and head south each day. So just getting to St. David's is strategic planning at times!! LOL

Lucky you to be so close to your work!!

Hope to meet you at St. David's some time....We won't be there for the Sept meeting as my hubby is having his WLS in Houston that week...but we will be back in October!!

I live in Leander & work in Austin. My surgery was an RNY on 12-15-09 & have lost 80 lbs so far. I'm within 10 lbs of my goal weight. I started as a " lightweight" @ 236 lbs & feel wonderful!

 Great choice on surgery and excellent choice of surgeon ..    (btw, don't forget that Dr. Ganta right there in Austin also does the DS, but for more $$s than Dr. S.)  

 "Kayla" on the DS forum - a Dr. Ganta patient - has been trying for a long time to get a DS surpport group going there in the Austin area, but there just doesn't seem to be much interest in it locally  ..       I know of several DS patients in the Austin-New Braunfels "strip", mostlhy patients of Dr. Marchesini, Dr. Baltasar and Dr. Rabkin, including a family of husband, wife and son that have all had the surgery, but they tell me they have also not been able to find any support groups in that area ..    Very sad ..   The Houston DS group also very rarely meets anymore, since their leader and founder - Dr. Kathryn Lewis - moved up to Nagadoches (sp.?) ...  Same for our DFW DSers group ..
