Hello everyone !! I'm FINE !!

Just thought I'd say hello and post a little since I've been a little AWAL lately !!

Some of you all know but others dont !!

I finally got to ride a bike for the first time in umpteen years last weekend

Bought the bike at 1pm !!   Napped until 5pm
Riding at 530 -  and at hospital emergency room at or by 7:00 !!

FINAL VERDICT:   Fractured Tibia Plateau.........min recovery per ortho  - 10 weeks - he wants me OFF of my leg completely for 10 weeks.       That wasn't an option - so he took me off work from last Tuesday through today :)   Well you all know me too well................I stayed OFF work for 1 day and went back to work.................I'm trying...................to stay off of it.
FAmily has been wonderful - being taken here and there and helped alot here at home too !!

Well - I've decided that I'm still going on cruise - I think.................just can't talk myself out of it - however doc is against it !!  He won't know until I go back in on 10-6 to see how I'm healing........I have a feeling I won't have a choice - but he'll take me off work completely after that.........

I could go on STD but that wouldn't look good being on STD and employer and friends knowing that I'm out on a cruise..........if you can do one - you can do the other...........so my plan is to hang in there until AFTER the cruise and then go on STD if things aren't much better.............

Today - though.........the pain isn't quite as bad.........so thats a plus..........either than I've finally learned NOT to move the wrong way !!

I figured in 3 full week s- the pain should be very minimal and I should be able to get around much better by then...................and watch out CARNIVAL becuase I'm creating my own CARNIVAL !!

AS for the excursions:  I HADN'T PLANNED ON ANY ANYWAY -  I was gonna be happy just a brief shoping trip in Mexico and mostly planned on staying on the ship - cause it the ship ride that I was more interested in anyway !!  :)             I'M GETTING SO EXCITED......

Enough with me   ya'all have a GREAT holiday and a GREAT week...................Make the best of it all !!

ps - pics are up on profile too !!

Phyllis......please try to do what the doctor asked.    Trust me.....you don't want it to get much worse because you didn't follow his orders.    As for the excursions off the ship.   I am not going on any either.   You do need to check on getting a wheel chair though.    Can't either for the cruise.   I NEED a vacation !!!

Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian

GOD GRANT ME THE SERENITY TO ACCEPT THE THINGS I CAN NOT CHANGE;   COURAGE TO CHANGE THE THINGS THAT I CAN;  AND THE WISDOM TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE !!!!    THIS IS MY DAILY PRAYER.

I'm glad you are not in too much pain but I do think you need to listen to the doc and stay home to rest. But you know yourself best, so I trust in your decision. We've got the wheelchair for you, for the cruise. The only problem I can forsee is doorways. Did you talk to Carnival about getting a wheelchair accessible room? It might be worth it. I don't know-I've never been on a cruise but I hear there isn't alot of room.

Becoming permanently disabled because of a broken bone that didn't set right is soooooooo not worth a job, vacation, or anything that would make me go against doctors orders. I love ya, Phyllis - but for the sake of all that is holy, do yourself a favor and really think this through. We're talking a leg - something that has carried you and will carry you through the rest of your life. You don't want to be messing around with something that could seriously screw you up down the road, leading to possible multiple surgeries to correct, the constant need for pain management  because you hurt WORSE than you do right now, or permanent immobility because it never got time to heal the way it should. PLEASE Phyllis. Short Term Disability is there for a reason - money for the short term when it's necessary - not when you've pushed past the point of no return. Doc says stay off of it, stay off of it! Take up a hobby that lets you sit and keep your mind busy and turn on a Maury Povich baby daddy episode for background noise. The inconvenience of boredom and lack of full-time income is only temporary - not having a bone set right could be permanent!
