Cruise question

Does anyone know what happens if there is a hurricane and they cancel the cruise? Do we get our money back? All these storms we've been having are making me nervous.

Lynne....I don't think that they cancel the cruise unless it i****ting where you are leaving from. If you are out in the ship they will go around the hurricane and either go to another port or give you a on ship credit of $20 for not hitting the port. Don't worry about it. We were on a cruise 3 yrs. ago when that hurricane hit Jamaica and we were headed there but turned around and went a different direction. I really wanted to see Jamaica too. LOL Oh well...can't win them all !!!

Vivian's right about them trying to avoid the storm. Under the FAQ section they said you could call 24 hours in advance if there is one close by and they'll tell you the plan. Liz told me she got stuck "at sea" for 2 extra days once due to a bad storm. Said it was a blast-plenty of food and entertainment at no extra charge.

MY Carnival cruise was the ONLY one cancelled due to the Swine Flu scare. I lost my airfare to Houston but got my money back on the cruise. Thought for sure that American MIGHT refund me due to the cruise cancellation but NOOOOOOOOO. I've driven every time since.

Getting stuck at sea isn't all that bad...unless you are on the Titanic and hit a glacier. I think you are safe heading South.

I wouldn't worry about the hurricanes. As Steph said, they will tell you the plan.

If Terry Ann ain't afraid to get on that cruise, no one else should be either!!

Our last cruise wa**** with the Norwalk virus and 600 people (including Clay) were quarantened onboard ship. He was not allowed to leave the ship and vomited non-stop for 3 days. They offered us 10% off our next cruise as compensation-BULLCRAP- I fought them and ended up getting complete refunds of both his and my cruise even though I wasn't effected. We promptly flew to Vegas and blew it all...

d0nt forget to refer to the FAQ section of carnival for a lot of your questions. As Steph said, i was on a cruise ship when hurricane Wanda was going to hit the same ports we are hitting. We did end up getting 2 extra days at sea instead of one day at Playa Del Carmen. Big deal. We had a blast at sea.. the staff was great at keeping us entertained the 2 extra days. Plenty of food, we had a 'Jamaican pool party/ bingo, they played several movies in the theater, we had options for classes on the towel folding, wine tasting, etc etc. i was perfectly fine with the 2 extra days at sea.
No , there were no 7 foot wave****ting the boat, we aren't going on the Titian tic for chrissake.

I figured that they won't take us in harms way - their liability policy would shut them down really fast !! lol

I would love to be out there for 2 more days !!! that would be GREAT - can't call into work.......that would be horrible - no call no show..........3 days - URRRR FIRED !! Not in my plans !! lol
