A me update...in case anyone is interested...

Today I had my first post op appointment with Dr. Hamn.

It went well.  I had my JP drain removed and sorry to say (being honest...not trying to freak the newbies or pre ops) but dang it hurt.  To the point where I shouted quite loud.  Now...apparently drains on the right side tend to hurt more than the ones on the left...according to Dr. Hamn.  My RNY drain was on the left and this one was on the right.  It has also left Peggy churned up to the point where I don't think I'll be eating or drinking much this evening.

He also removed the staples on my teeny lap incision.  Okay...this was funny because as someone who has never had actual staples I was REALLY freaked at how bad they would hurt.  He did this after the drain removal and I wasn't sure if I was ready for more ow.  He pulled them out and I felt little more than a 'tug'.  He got the 3 out and said 'okay'.  I said...that's it??  He said "yep".  My response was "S*&T...getting my eyebrows waxed hurts worse than that did."  He busted a gut so that made me feel good.

I'm out for at least another week.  He didn't even want to discuss my return to wor****il I come back and see him next week which will be next Friday.

But all systems are running well and he is cautious (he knows I'll overdo it if he 'lets' me) but happy with my progress so far.  That puts a smile on my face.

Thanks for all the prayers all.

Thanks for the update Jenn.   Get some rest and take your pain meds if you need them.   Give Miss Peggy a break tonight if she needs one.   Maybe she will "feel" better tomorrow.

Hugs and blessings ~~ Vivian

Are you still on clears or did he let you advance to full liquids?

I had 2 drains taken out after my plastics and neither one hurt ~so was I lucky or you unlucky, lol?

Jenn,
I had a drain when I had my lap RNY for about 10 days... and yes it hurt like a MF when he took it out.  My girlfriend haid surgery same days as i did.. she never even felt hers being removed.
Next day, i had a lovely infection at the drain site... that was the cause of my pain lol... so keep an eye on that :)
glad you are progressing well
