Okay on clear liquid diet?? (x-post)

Okay...I'm back to basics for the next week.  Definitely no fun to go back to clear liquid diet but...you gotta do what ya gotta do.

Anyway...to get as much variety with my 'broth' option as possible I'm looking for different broth based soups and going to strain them off.  I know won ton and egg drop from Chinese restaurants are okay but is hot and sour soup okay?  I really like hot and sour soup...its of course way better with the mushrooms and all the tasty little bits in it but if its okay it would be a REALLY nice change of pace.

Any input would be fantastic....or any other suggestions to make this next week easier is completely welcome.  I just wasn't mentally prepared for another month on liquids.  Once I get to the full stage and can add back in my oatmeal, cream of wheat and cream soups I'll be golden.  But this clear liquid thing is just SO hard.

Jenn are you going to have to be on the clear liquid stage very long??   I would try any soups that you can strain.   I hope you get to progress to full liquid diet soon.   Still praying for you.

Dr. Hamn wants me to be super conservative to allow my new and improved pouch (now named Peggy) to fully heal since he had to do the whole disconnect/reconnect thing.  So I anticipate clear liquids for a week and *crosses fingers* with hope I can move to full liquids by next Monday.

I don't remember craving full liquid phase this much the first time around.  But then again, the first time around I was much more mentally prepared for the restrictions on eating.  I'm also betting that because 2 protein shakes a day was the norm for me, even before the hernia issue, getting back to having those will feel like I'm much more normal.

I wonder Jenn if you could go to say Vitamin Shoppe and get some of the clear protein shakes ( such as the fruit flavored ones ) that you mix with water.    Just a thought there for something different for you to do.  Also don't forget....I am sure you can have SF popcicles and SF jello.   Good luck to you.

The rule is basically anything thin that you can see thru-so yes any soup broth would work as long as it's thin like water and has no chunks. You can also do SF jello, SF popsicles, crystal light, etc.  I know it's very hard but try to hang in there.  It will be tons better when you get to full liquids.
