Bayshore Hospital in Pasadena, TX

In June of this year, Bayshore Hospital in Pasadena (an HCA facility) was recognized as a Bariatric "Center for Excellence" Hospital.  This has been in the works for years and they are official now.  I work for another HCA Hospital in the Houston area and when looking and researching hospitals/surgeons I was happy to realize this news.  I had sent out a "help" message posts earlier and received a negative reply about Bayshore and honestly, I have never heard anything positive about this hospital until recently.  So, those of you who are researching hospitals for WLS, please be aware that Bayshore is now an official and I have met w/ my surgeon, Dr. Jorge Leiva and like him very much.  I am a nurse and had 4 pages of question for him.  So, I came prepared to our meeting.  I have insurance through Aetna and am registered with "Neweigh" at the present time going through health checks, tests, etc... before they can send off my request for the "sleeve" procedure.  I will be going to Bayshore for my sleep study and my EGD and I will let you all know then if the hosp. is up to snuff.  Just wanted to inform in hopes that maybe this positive info could help someone else.

I wish you luck with that facility. I'm sorry, I've lost 3 family members due to infections they got while there, not because of the reason they were originally admitted... 2 never made it out of there alive. I won't even go inside to see people. So please understand that no COE certificate is going to change my mind or feelings about the place.

If you are having any procedures there, I'll keep you in my prayers.

I know what you mean, Dee.  I am a Pasadena-girl and have the same negative feelings due to bad experiences (not only self, but with others as well) with the hospital.

If anyone is having surgery there, I will wish them well and pray for them. IMO they will need it.....oops did I say that out loud???

My ex-sister-in-law survived a stroke at age 48 but she didn't survive Bayshore Hospital.  That was over 10 years ago but I also haven't heard anything good about Bayshore lately, either.
