low iron
Hi Diane,
I too had this problem last year when I had my vitamin checks done. I did Vitalady Tender Iron. I have issues as many of us do with constipation and I know that iron is constipating. I didn't want bigger issues with that so I did the Tender Iron. I did 7 of the 25 mg. tabs a day. After 3 months my iron levels were back up to where they should be. Good luck to you about this issue. You may want to ask your doc how much Iron that he wants you taking to resolve this problem though. He may want you taking more than I had to to take. It depends on how low yours was. Mine wasn't that bad by my doc didn't want to take chances with mine dropping lower. Good luck to you.

I use Vitalady, too.
I have used, continue to use these two. The Poly I can take 1 per day, the Tender Iron I take 9 a day (when I use them). I hate taking all these vitamins. I've learned so much in the past 5 years, the vitamins are WAY MORE burdensome than I ever anticipated.
Be sure to add a couple of Chewable Vitamin C with your iron and don't take it within 2 hours of calcium, dairy, or caffiene. Here is a pretty good article on iron.

I have used the Tender Iron in the past with good results but I switched to another chewable iron about 6 months ago in the form "Iron as an amino acid chelate" and my iron levels were good at 2 years:

Have you been taking any iron supplements at all?

If your iron is too low, your doctor might suggest doing an iron infusion to jump start your iron, and then continue with iron vitamins. My low iron was diagnosed when I had a sleep study done As it turned out not only did I have sleep apnea again(!!), but I also had restless legs syndrone. The iron infusion made a difference in the restless legs diagnosis.
thanks, all!
I have not taken iron before and I am a little over three years post op.
I have restless leg syndrome, too...is that a symptom of low iron???
I am honestly not sure my PCP knows how to treat me as a post op...I often end up telling her things about my particular situation. Guess I should go back to my surgeon...wish he was closer!
