Two-year Lab Results

Got my results of my 2-year lab work yesterday and all the usual suspects were good:

Iron (91)
Ferritin (76)
Calcium (9.5)
B-12 (1206)
B-1 (166)
Vitamin D (63.5)
Protein (6.5)
Vitamin A (45)

Some of the not-so-good is my vitamin B6 was high (54.7) and this can cause problems same as low B vitamins.  I noticed my folic acid was also high but this apparently is not a problem.  I looked up the symptoms of elevated B-6 and I definitely have some of them - especially the sensitivity to bright sunlight in the past 3 months.  My liquid multi is very high in the B vitamins and I am almost out so I guess I will switch to a regular chewable one and see if it comes down or the symptoms subside.  Dr. Davis never checked my B-6 so I don't know what it was before.  I used to take additional B-complex chewable but I haven't replaced it lately, either.

Also interestingly, my Vitamin K was so low it didn't even register.  I have always had problems with bruising easily and frequent nosebleeds that were hard to stop so I suspect it has always been low.  Never had it checked before.  Guess I will pick some up the next time I hit the Vitamin Shoppe.

Dr. Weinstein also checked my TSH and T4 which I have never had checked and my TSH was 3.4 and T4 was 1.29.  He said it was a little high and gave me a 30-day supply of Synthroid to try and if I felt better taking it then he would write me a script.

So, I was happy my vitamin levels were good at 2 years so I will just keep doing what I am doing (except for the multi)........  oh yeah - I was also 5 pounds LIGHTER than the last time he saw me (~ a year ago)

Woo Hoo on the good stuff! At least you know what to do and how to fix the others. Inned to have my 1 yr labs drawn this week, I better start hydrating now for that 20 vial draw!

I'm still taking Synthroid. Tip...take it completely by itself on an empty stomach at least 30 minutes before any food or drink besides water. My PCP tested me every 3 months for over 3 years, adjusting it every time up or down trying to get those numbers where he wants them. He was stumped and finally mentioned something about taking them alone...I had never been told that! I started taking them when I got up in the early am for potty breaks (all that danged water!) and the next draw was exactly what he wanted. He hasn't adjusted them in almost a year.
