Today I will tell you about my Aunt Kathie. I had started the process to get WLS, and was well on my way. Then I found out that Medicare would not pay my surgeon's fee. Even after he lowered it to $2500, I still could not afford it. I was heartbroken and ready to give up. I told my aunt that $2500 might as well be a million to me. My mom had passed away a few years earlier, and I was feeling particularly close to her sister. Kathie emailed me back and said she may have found my million. She reminded me that my grandmother had been buying me savings bonds for my birthday since I was a teenager and suggested I cash some in. Wow! I had my solution, and was able to go through with this life-changing surgery. My aunt sadly also passed away before she got to see my success, but she was my inspiration - and continues to be my angel.

I'll play too
Edrina Jones - she is about 2 or 3 yrs farther out than I am and used to see me at the allergist every week - she gently encouraged me - and when I went to my first doc required support group she was there and stuck by me - came and spent time with Tim while I was in the ICU - stayed with me and sent him home to shower and rest some too - then she introduced me to good quality foods -and the concept that I COULD buy $10 a pound cheese esp since I ate it an oz at the time now instead of a quarter pound or whatever.
super happy memory of sitting in her kitchen making beef jerky with our friend Annie T - I still want to look like Annie but my legs just won't grow
I still talk to her now and then and she has been and still is an awesome support system
oh and she was the one that helped me figure out that I can eat taco bell if I skip the meat and get beans in my taco
