I heard WLS can prolong your life, but, my goodness---you had it done 1000 years ago?!!!!!!! (1010)
Let me tell you about my trying to get the State to pay for anything.
Years ago, I tried to get the State to pay for a RNY, but they claimed they ran out of $$$.
Then, I heard they were still doing them. (in hindsight, I'm glad I didn't have it then as I was not as mentally healthy as I am now)
Then, approx 1 year ago, I tried to get Medicaid...
They refused me cause I'm not pregnant, nor do I have under age children.
I guess you only qualify if you're popping babies out one right after another.
Do you know any Korbs? (my last name) Betcha I'm related to all of them.

The only good cat is a sleeping cat...>^--^< zzzzzzz

Every state is different, and even if Texas medicaid covers the surgery, that doesn't mean a good doctor will take medicaid.  If you find wls is covered, then check the area you are planing to move to and see if any good wls doctors will take new medicaid patients.  I wouldn't even think about the plastics in making this decision.  That would be a couple of years out, and even if it is covered now, that doesn't mean it will be covered in a couple of years.  And again, you might still have trouble finding a good doctor.  I really think a good doctor can make all the difference in both surgeries, so that is something to consider too.  Also, make sure that the vertical band specificly is covered.  If you have done your research and the vertical band is the right wls for you, then you need to make sure when you check Medicaid coverage and talk to surgeons, that your specific surgery type is covered and done by the surgeons.  Medicaide may say yes they cover wls, but mean that they cover some types of wls.  And different doctors do different types of surgery too.  Good luck.  I hope you can work it out.

Sorry, I misread.  You have already had wls.  That makes finding a doctor a little easier, but still make sure a good doctor who has experience with your surgery type takes new medicade patients.

I thought of something else you need to check.  Make sure you will still qualify for Medicaid if you move to Texas.  I know some people in some states who get it, and I know other people in Texas who are in the same situation or worse who don't qualify.  That would be a big factor in moving.
