am movin from wi to texas
i just had the vertical band june 2 1010 but i am wantin to move to texas and the state i am in paid for my surgery and will be payin for my cosmetic surgery if i stay...... my question is if i move out of state will medicaid still pay for me to see the gastric bypass doctor and still pay for the surgery to have the excess skin removed personnal reasons are the reason i am movin to texas but dont want to move unless i can still get the help
Liz is right - you would need to call the Texas Medicaid office and ask them. WARNING - Texas pays one of the lowest amounts in food stamps (now known as SNAP) and Medicaid coverage of all the 50 states. I do know there are Texas residents on Medicaid who got their surgery covered.
I am presuming you have a case manager for your coverage right now. You might ask them if they know if Texas will cover it. It is virtually impossible to get anyone to answer at the benefits office.

The Texas statewide Medicaid helpline number is 800-335-8957. I was informed that to have the extra tummy skin removed through Medicaid would only happen if there was a rash or serious medical issue needing that to be done. Not saying it never happens but it would be a rare thing. I wish you the best of luck with beingable to move down here and have the Medicaid thing work for you here.

Liz, I have never known a time for you to think that you are not right.
I'll be heading back under my chair now.

One thing to always consider your surgeon was paid by Medicare for your surgery. Who is going to be doing your follow-up care?? It is very difficult to get another surgeon to provide your follow-up care when he was not the one that did the original surgery. In terms of surgical procedures, WLS does not equate to Gyn surgery in trying to get another doctor for follow-up exams. How can you already have approval for cosmetic surgery when you have just had your WLS surgery?? I have never heard that before.
