bummed out
Well, I went to the cardiologist on Wednesday, and they did 3 tests.
(the first 2 were not pleasant)
I was home and they called to tell me something is abnormal. (of course it is)
So, now I go talk to him on Monday and will have to undergo a heart cath.
For those of you who don't know, they go in the groin artery, shoot
some dye in and that gives them a better picture. Wheeeeeeeeee!
So, as it stands right now, I may not be in good enough shape to have
my gastric bypass.
Maybe I could have the band--not my first choice, but it's probably a
lesser surgical risk.
We'll just cross that bridge when we get to it!

Just wait and see. I have obstructive hypertropic cardiomyopathy(repaired with ablation) and my cardiologist pushed and encouraged me to have the gastric bypass I had the band for 2 yr.s and never lost a pound at first because I was scared of the RNY.. He has been very supportive and I had hypertension and now my BP is normal and he is encouraging me now to have plastic surgery. I was shocked when he first brought up the subject and would give his blessing. I am one of the few to not have a pacemaker so I'm sure that was his motivation to keep me as healthy as possible for as long as possible. So one step at a time. All good things in due time.

just take a deep breath! You don't know anything till AFTER the cath. It may be ok and the rny may be ok! They may just be being cautious! I'll be keeping my fingers crossed but if it must be a lap band that will be ok too!! We have lots of successfull banders around here and we will help you get through whatever crops up!!

Meggie
thank you both for your support and kind words!!!!!
My brother said something pretty smart:he said that if I have the band and this helps my heart get healthy, then maybe I can have the RNY.
He's a pretty fart smeller!!!
After the first 2 days of feeling down, I told myself, "Well, you don't know what's wrong, and so just see what's what, and see what Drs. Green and Reddy say."
