***How long for approval***
Hello Everyone,
So I have had all my test done and the submission of my letter to the insurance company. I have my surgery date set for the 10th of August.
How long does it normally take for the insurance to approve or deny? I have BCBS of TX.
Now that its close to time, I am sooo nervous.
Are there any special prepartions that you all know of that I should be doing?
Thanks,
Demeatra

Congratulations on your date. I am surprised that they gave you a date before insurance gave their approval. I would call the insurance co. and ask to speak to the case manager. Then ask them. I had Aetna when I had my RNY and I was approved in less than 24 hours. As for the special preparations before surgery....I am sure once you are approved your doc will give you instructions. Most surgeons are not totally the same so it would be best to wait and do as yours instructs you. Good luck on speedy approval !!!

I agree with Vivian, it is very unusual to have a date before insurance approval. I really would double check that. You can't really schedule a surgery date without apporval. I also had Aetna but it took a couple of weeks before approval. Each insurance and company is different. Good luck with your surgery. Who is your doctor?
I think that my company had something like 14-21 day turn around time. But I got it within 2 weeks - if I remember right...
- Pease check out Dr. Connie Stapleton's Website. A lot of good information on there for all WLS patients regardless of the surgery you chose. Good luck to all and I'm here for you if you want to send me an email. I'll answer it as soon as possible.
