My planning hasn't been as good lately-too much "snatching and grabbing". I asked my dotor yesterday if the med I'm taking for my back would cause that and he said a big old "YES", so I have to be EXTRA careful-esp with exercise on hold

B: Click

S: Yogurt with wheat germ/Beef stick (not mixed together...eww)

L: Chicken with pineapple

D: Beef stew with no potatoes/fresh veggies on side

S: Protein pudding

Will DEF be working on the water

Thank heavens you aren't mixing the beef stick in the wheat germ/yogurt mixture!  I hate to hear the meds make you want to grab and go.  With Vicodin, definitely drink LOTS of fluids.

See you Friday!

Noticed several people on the message board eat SALAD !!!
I had surgery 6 months ago and have been told to stay away from salad, which is very hard for me because that is what I crave during these hot summer months.
When were you able to start eating salad ?????????    Should i give it a try this soon or wait awhile  ?

I believe I was eating salad about 5 - 6 months post op.  I was told not to eat iceberg lettuce though and to really chew it very very good.   I believe I would eat baby spinach or romaine lettuce.   But the main thing is make sure that  you chew it very very well.   I bet you can tolerate it very well.    As for should you try it now....that is your call.    Good luck.

Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian

Thanks for the feed back Vivian.
I will take your advise and stay away from iceberg and stick to my favorite Romaine.  I appreciate you replying to my post.  I am new to this site and even though I registered a few months ago,  this is only the 2nd time I have posted.

I was probably 5-6 months out from surgery when I first ate salad.  Dr. Scarborough was in dr. Wilson's group at that time.  Neither one told me I couldn't eat salad back then.  I remember  being scared to eat it.  Start with a few bites and see how you do, then add some more.  I would stay away from iceburg lettuce too.  It has no nutritional value and is mostly water.  That's why I don't eat it.  I eat fresh spinach and romaine and leafy green lettuce, celery, carrots, all that w/o difficulty!

Thanks for the response Karla,
I am so glad that this website gives me the opportunity to see what others have experienced.  I wish I knew of a support group in my area but I'm not sure how to find one.  I might have been exposed to one through the doctors offices in this area,  but I chose to have my surgery in Houston ( 4 hour drive from Kingsville) and I will never regret my decision.  The care and attention I have received from Dr. Wilson and his staff has been fantastic.  I chose that group of doctors because my brother had his surgery 10 years ago with that group when Dr. Moody was there.
I went up for my 6 month visit this week but found out when I arrived that they had to cancel my appointment and had been unsuccessful in contacting me.   It wasn't too bad,  because from there I was headed to College Station for my sons freshman orientation.    No Problem,  I can reschedule but I was anxious to discuss one topic with the doctor......................It seems like as soon as I hit the 5 month mark,  weight loss came to a complete halt.  I only lost 5 pounds the whole month.  Is this normal...It seems to be picking up again but slowly.
