I am having Gastric Bypass on Thursday. I think I am fully prepared for all I am going to be coming up against but I thought I would ask if anyone had any last minute words of advice? What all should I take the hospital with me?

Thanks for your help,
Jessica

Listermint breath strips...they help with that gunky mouth feel after surgery!! You really dont need much at the hospital, toothbrush, toothpaste, slippers, robe and something loose to wear home. A pillow in the car for the ride home to put between you and the seatbelt was a godsend for me!! We will make a spot on the loosers bench for you! Congratulations!!

The only thing that I might add is chapstick...helps with the dry lips.  Meggie pretty much covered the list of stuff to take.

Hi Jessica,

Just wanted to wish you luck on your surgery.  You will love the journey you are about to embark on!!!  Take advantage of the knowledge you receive from the board.  It will be very instrumental on your journey!!

Blessings,

Nina

Prayers to you for a safe recovery following your surgery.

Along with chapstick I also brought a small fan( found it at Walgreen's). It kept me cool & helped drown out the noise from the hospital hallway. When you get ready to be dismissed have the nurses give you one last dose of anti nausea medicine. I didn't think I was one to get car sick but the motion of a moving vehicle was not pleasant.

We all welcome you to the losers bench & look forward to updates regarding your progress!

Congrats on your surgery Thursday and best wishes for a speedy recovery.  I think everyone has given you a good list here.  Definitely take the chapstick!

Good luck!  It's going to go great!  I second the lip balm...it's the ONLY thing I wanted after surgery.  Not normally so into lip balm but  my lips were so dry I think I almost used the whole tube in the first week.

Keep us updated!

I can't think of anything else to add but to stress on the loose clothing (think pj pants or a night gown) and the pillow for the ride home... You will need it with the long drive you have from the hospital to home.

And make sure Brian drops you off at home AND then goes to fill your prescriptions, unlike Chris did to me. You definitely don't want to be making the trek through the store after surgery.

Good luck Jessica, you will do great! And call me if you need anything!
