Sunday 4th of July Express!

My favorite 4th of July was the Bicententeniel!! Watching all the parades and the patriotism throughout the country was just amasing! I was at my Dad's in Tn and we went to the lake to watch fireworks that night and had a picnic and and it was a day that really all American!
No, emphatically no, I do not play with fireworks anymore! Learned the hard way with a couple of bad burns! I even got burned by a sparkler. Now I just sit back and watch other crazies risk life and limb and enjot thei handywork!!
yall have fun!!

I am going to SS and church this morning, running to Walmart, then coming home and getting packets of materials together for my Adventureland scrapbook class I start teaching Tuesday for the school district. Later this evening Ben and I will go to my sister's for a steak cookout and fireworks.
I love fireworks.
My fondest 4th memory is as a little girl. My dad worked for Phillips Petroleum in Old Ocean, TX and we would go there and they put on a huge fireworks display. I remember being awed even though I wasn't but 5 or so.
Prayers to all for healing and safe travels.
Have a great Independence Day!

Good morning all-Happy 4th!! No iron clad plans today-will play by ear, after church. Need to clean house, but would rather NOT. Did not get to work last night, as planned. That's how it goes wth agency work-feast or famine..sigh..
Went and saw the Tom Cruise movie yesterday..screw the "experts"...Tom still "HAS IT"....oh my....that smile..those eyes..those thighs...and all carb free!! He'll never be Richard Gere or George Clooney, of course, but he does really well!!
May we remember what today is about, and remember our men and women in the Armed Forces-and their families
Prayers all around, with special ones to special peeps in need
OOPS..forgot answer MEGGIE's questions:
Fave memory: As a kid we always went to MamMaw and Gramps's house in Waco and met up with our Houston cousins. MamMaw did not allow ireworks, so we would go to Cameron Park and watch them there. The fireworks always got the zoo animals worked up and they would make HORRIBLE noises. Looking back, I guess it was cruel to the animals, but, as a kid, it added to the excitement-cuz a big gorilla might bust thru his cage and run rampart thru the crowd!
Do I personally do fireworks? NOPE-and would never let my boys, One shift of working in the hospital ER on the 4th of July, many, many years ago, taught me THAT lesson!!
ok..think I'm done now!
I LOVE Y'ALL AND THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT!!

We Can Do Hard Things
My favorite 4th of July memories come from my time in Michigan. When church camp coincided with 4th of July, we would go to Frankfort, MI and watch fireworks over Lake Michigan. We'd have to wait for this big ship to come in, then the fireworks would start. Being so far north, there were several years that we were bundled up in heavy winter coats, wrapped in blankets watching fireworks. Definitely a different experience than here in Texas!!
Hope everyone has a fantastic day! Stay safe, and have lots of fun!!

Not much going on in my neck of the woods today. Hubby decided he didn't want to go to church today so we stayed home or rather he did. All that talk about Saltgrass yesterday made me want a steak....so I went to the grocery store and bought some for hubby to grill later on. Also bought some soft drinks for my sons. I hardly ever buy them anymore. They will drink water just as well. Much healthier for them too. I hate fireworks !!! Or rather the noise. Love watching them....saw some last night going off when I picked my son up to take him home from work.

GOD GRANT ME THE SERENITY TO ACCEPT THE THINGS I CAN NOT CHANGE; COURAGE TO CHANGE THE THINGS THAT I CAN; AND THE WISDOM TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE !!!! THIS IS MY DAILY PRAYER.

My favorite 4th holiday was when we went to Nashville in 1996 and we were on the General Jackson steamboat for a dinner cruise on the evening of the 4th. When the firework's show started they were shooting the fireworks right over the boat so it was really awesome!! That was one of many quite neat trips that we used to take.
I have shot fireworks in the past but it has probably been more then 15 years since I have. The shows are fun to watch but I want other's to do the hard work.
Have a great and safe weekend all!!
Chris
I'm staying inside to comfort my babies when the neighbors start lighting the firewackers.
I wish ppl would take the non-human animals into account when they do this stuff. They don't understand all that noise is "fun"!
And I'd like to say that since some of us, (LGBT) don't have equal rights, it's just another day.
That said, my favorite memory is of when I was 13, and it was the 2nd or 3rd of July.
We lived on the corner of a super quiet street, so before this guy drove by, I'm sure he saw us lighting firewackers.
I was standing close to the street, and as he came parallel to me, I yelled "BANG!!!!".
The poor guy jumped and probably wet his pants. He kept driving. I'm surprised he didn't get out and beat the crap out of me. (it was a spontaneous thing-I didn't plan it)
He was going slow enough that it didn't affect his driving.
Meanwhile, my mother is rolling on the ground, telling me, "That wasn't funny!"
I feel bad now, but I still get the giggles when I think of it.
