OT - Headed to San Antonio this weekend... on a budget
we were just there 2 weeks ago and had a blast, yet didn't spend much money. However, it was just the two of us so, here's my thoughts....
1) see what free stuff your hotel is offering - ours had an outdoor movie night on their patio Friday night
2) pool? it's free and entertaining for the kids
3) some great movies are out and they do have movie theatre's, though that's still not cheap these days
4) late, late afternoon or early eve - go to the riverwalk and check out all the free shops you can walk through - doesn't cost a thing to take in the sights other than possibly parking
5) head to the mall, it's airconditiioned and often has playgrounds (depends on age of kids)
6) Check out the hotel's free brochures - I found that most hotels had discounts for just about everything in the area...
7) The San Antonio Zoo rocks and at $10 admission for adults is pretty cheap these days. You can go on-line for more information, but last I recall, lot's of shade and one of the best zoo's in the country to visit
8) Breckenridge Park used to have some terrific stuff each weekend - now I didn't check it out this time, but you may want to go on-line and take a look
Hope this helps and Good luck!

Hello all.... San Antonio Rose here....I would take a tour of the San Antonio Missions, take a San Antonio river ride on the boats especially along the new part of the river, eat at MiTierra's down in the Mexican Market area and definitely tour the Mexican Market where the restaurant is. If you are up for it go to SeaWorld. You can always drive up I-10 west to Boerne and Fredericksburg, texas. Fredericksburg is way cool.
I am scheduled for my sleeve surgery mid to late July. Trying to get the last of my cash together since I am self pay because my insurance won't cover it. Am nervous but have been reading everyone's posts. I am 57....how long did any of you take off from work before going back.
I hope you have a nice trip.
