I got home yesterday afternoon but finally feel up to it today to be on the computer to post. I had surgery on Thursday the 16th. Surgery went really well. I don't remember too much of Thursday, those drugs were mighty good LOL I guess I called family and friends and don't remember it at all. They had me up and walking later Thursday evening. Friday I was ok just really sore and the burping finally started. Saturday I was discharged to go home. Still a little tender today. So not use to being able to do really nothing, I have a 14 month old son whom I can't pick up and it's killing me. I am trying to veg as much as I can, go for walks around the house and keep up on my fluids. Really not hungry at all which is so odd. I am forcing myself to eat though so I keep up my energy. Dr. Ferrari was amazing and I am so blessed he did my surgery. I will post again soon!

My best to you.  Is Dr. Ferrari in the same building/locale as Dr. Garth Davis.  I know I have seen Dr. Ferrari's name posted on one of the buildings on Gessner.  It is a toss up among 4 surgeons I will use.  Now, rest and take it easy.

You are allowed to eat??   Be so very very careful if you are eating anything other than broth and popsicles.    Most docs don't allow you to eat for a week or more after RNY.   Take things very slowly.   No rush at all.   Congrats on your surgery and getting home.

Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian

Holding your child is difficult not to do after surgery and I had my little daughter at the time I had mine always wanting me to hold her. I will admit I cheated and held her through the pain. My wife got mad at me for doing it but told her to relax that I am fine. But seriously follow the doctors orders and follow your post-operative care and meal plan which should basically be all liquids. Rest and take it easy let your husband pamper you. Congrats on the surgery and welcome to the loser bench.

Thanks everyone.
I am allowed more things than I thought. I can have obviously water, apple juice sugar free, cream of wheat or grits, yogurt with no fruit pieces, pudding and jello sugar free, popsicles, baby food stage 2, broth and a few other things. Today was the first day I actually felt hungry so I ate a little pudding. Only thing is everything tastes horrid! They reassured me that would go away. I have been trying to do all my fluids but with everything tasting horrible it's hard. I did buy some sugar free lemonade and other packet mixes and those have been helping getting my fluids in. I finally feel good today. Slowly feeling human again.
Yesterday I felt really nausated all day. Also the dry mouth is horrid. I have my two week follow up July 2nd. I have to take the tape off my incisions today or tomorrow. I am nervous bout it but know it needs to be done. I am cherishing my wonderful husband being by my side helping me thru this. It's killing me not picking up Gage but I pray after my two week he lifts that band!I let him sit on my lap and things or cuddle but when he is crying in his crib or something I can't do much but go in and talk to him till my husband gets him.
Is cold and hot flashes pretty normal too?

Honey, what you are going through IS normal. Things will start to taste better, just be patient! The bodies healing process takes time and each persons clock is different. If you don't like like something one day, wait a few days and try it again a few days later. Some foods you may never eat again, some you will! Just do the best you can and take your vits, get your body moving and sip, sip, sip!!

Thats good to know this is all normal! I had no idea what to expect really because I know everyones body is different and when you have never had surgery its hard to really prepare ya know? The hot and cold sweats suck but Im dealing. The nausating feeling sucks too still trying to figure out what to do to help them. I am enjoying a protein shake now and it actually tastes good. I picked up some more "new" things I can have at the store tonight just keep a good roatation so I don't get bored or sick of the same things. Went grocery shopping with the family tonight felt good to get up and do some good walking. Can't wait till the bloaty feeling goes away! Thanks everyone for advice and support it means the world!
