Yeah - my only problem was that the meds in it ran out BEFORE I left the hospital...so they took it out before I left the Hospital........just the long tube..............it stung a little coming out........but didn't  HURT so to say................they told me to take a deep breath..........the LONG Tube is what bothered me the most coming out.

IT'll  BE OKAY.... ((((((((((Huggs))))))))))))))))
  • Pease check out Dr. Connie Stapleton's Website. A lot of good information on there for all WLS patients regardless of the surgery you chose.  Good luck to all and I'm here for you if you want to send me an email.  I'll answer it as soon as possible.

SaraJane,

My surgeon also uses the OnQ pump.  I'm having surgery on 7/12.  Would you mind sharing what your pain was like at the hosptial and after you went home?  I am pretty nervous about the pain, even though I'll have the little pump.

Thanks!

I am a self-proclaimed baby when it comes to pain.  Is the pain anything like the pain from a c-section or gallbladder surgery?  I just want to be prepared as much as I can, I know everybody is different.

If you are asking about pain after a RNY - nope, for myself, I really didn't have much PAIN.  Definitely some discomfort, but not "ouch-e-wa-wa" pain.  If I remember correctly (I am nearly six years post-op now), the gas build-up from it being done laparoscopically was worse than anything else, which is why they tell you to get up and move around as much as you can.  Now, if you were asking about pain after plastics, welllll, that's a whooooole different ballgame!!!  Like you say, everyone is indeed different as well as the surgical technique each surgeon uses so some will not have much pain at all whereas some may have had a lot.  You'll be fine.  Keep a great, positive attitude and all will go ok!

I had to take mine out, boy those meds worked better than I thought.  I had the tugging issue, no pain, and just felt funny, and I had two tubes to remove.  But they did not hurt, plus I had a drain tube in for a week, and it did not hurt coming out either, actually was like a huge sigh of relief.
I have started a blog all of my own for this journey.  Please follow me at www.digitalsheep.org.

I had never been in the hospital before this surgery.  I definitely can tell that the on-Q pump works.  I have a little pain today that I didn't have yesterday.  I still am in pain...mainly after I get up out of bed.
