I need serious life advice
Told me not to come bac****il I'm totally released, and then went on to say Rehab is not a place for a person like me. (a person with hernias)
Said it would be to my best interest to get a job in a Dr.s office.....they make pennies compared to what I made.
I live in a town that turns out two nursing classes a year. We have two hospitals and one Main clinic. There is just not enough jobs to go around and they know LVNs are a dime a dozen.
I have a son in San Antonio and the job opportunities there are great...I would hafta leave my husband here. I truly don't think he will ever leave here. I just don't see an answer...
Sometimes I wish I had an unbiased shoulder to lean on.....I don't know what to do...
Any in-site is greatly appreciated
I can't imagine what kind of restrictions you are on... Not sure of the struggles that you are dealing with since surgery.................but just know....that someone will chime in here soon and hopefully give you some advice !!
Have a good evening.
- Pease check out Dr. Connie Stapleton's Website. A lot of good information on there for all WLS patients regardless of the surgery you chose. Good luck to all and I'm here for you if you want to send me an email. I'll answer it as soon as possible.

They need help to do everything.
They told me they do not have to hold my job, I am still in my 90 day probationary period. I am not covered by FMLA yet....They actually have too much staff and 5 people were flexed (called off) today alone.
Im just not sure what to do or where to turn....
Good Luck Tara.
*Strength... it's inside, beside, behind and all around me*
while you are still under the 90 day probation, they can drop you at any time for breathing wrong. Also, texas is a right to work state so even after the 90 days are up,. they can still drop you at any time. Wishing you the best

When I was born, I cried and the world rejoiced. Now i wanna live my life so that when I die, the world cries and I rejoice
Tara I'm a nurse and every place I've ever worked doesn't allow people to come back to work with restrictions. That's the whole reason I had to take a full 6 weeks off after my plastics. I tug and lift a lot in my job. Unfortunately like others have said, they don't need a reason to "let you go" in the first 90 days.
Have you considered "bridging" to an RN? The pay is so much more and jobs are plentiful. Around here the only places that hire LVN's are doctor's offices, clinics and nursing homes. Our hospital went to an all-RN staff a few years ago which is a shame cuz we lost some excellent nurses when they fired them.
You might consider going to a bigger city and working the weekend thing where you work Fri-Sun and are home during the week. Our hosptial actually let nurses stay in empty rooms when they did that so they didn't have to pay for a motel. If a hospital is desperate for nurses, they might go for it. Good luck in your decision. So glad you're feeling better and didn't need surgery.
