Genius frozen dessert for summer
I found this on Epicurious, substituted Splenda for the sugar, and found it to be WONDERFUL. It reminds me of the freshest gelato, only guilt-free. You don't even need an ice cream maker. It tastes nothing like buttermilk, but the buttermilk adds something magic to the process while also adding protein.
Strawberry Buttermil****
24 oz. fresh strawberries, cleaned and hulled (now that I think about it, don't know why frozen ones wouldn't work)
1/2 cup Splenda
1 cup low-fat buttermilk
Whiz strawberries and Splenda in a food processor or blender until liquified. Add the buttermilk and whiz to combine. Pour the mixture into an 8" square glass dish or a 9" glass pie plate. Freeze 3 hours or until firm.
Working in small batches, whiz the frozen mixture until smooth. It'll take a bit of effort to get the frozen stuff out of the Pyrex dish. I run ho****er over the bottom until the whole slab lets go, then I chisel it into chunks with a sturdy metal spatula. It's worth the effort, ladies!
Eat your fill and store the leftovers in the freezer, in a plastic container with a lid. Let the frozen leftovers sit at room temperature for 20 minutes or so before eating.

There's some sort of filter that is supposed to eliminate curse words. It's ridiculously overzealous. In this instance, if you take the last letter of "hot" and the first three letters of "water," and put them together, you get an oh-so-scandalous word!! Now aren't you grateful you have those asterisks to protect your virgin eyes from such naughtiness?
Gina - i cant stand the stuff but no, its usually right there with the rest of the milk. You can even find POWDERED buttermilk in the baking section usually on a top shelf.
