4 days PostOp; Hernia?

The largest incision (on the left side of my navel where I assume the largest instruments went in) is very tender and painful. The other incisions do not hurt. When I get up, it is achey and almost feels like a muscle spasm.  I have felt it today and it feels kind of hard but nothing is protruding or looks swollen from what I can see.

Is this normal?

The left side is where the majority of the work is done.  It will be more tender than the other incisions.  Things to watch for are fever, heat, chills and such, any oozing or smell in case of infection.

Thanks, Cajungirl, for calming my fears a bit tonight.  I am in pain and going to the doctor tomorrow.  I am hoping that it isn't anything serious because I have followed the rules/guidelines to the T and it would be frustrating if something goes wrong.

On another note, I am an LSU grad.  Noticed you are from SW LA.  What part? I married a guy from the Oppelousas area.  From your picture, you have reached your goal cuz you look amazing! I can only with for 1/2 the result.  Thanks for the quick response. I had some chills last night, but today nothing other than just soreness/pain.  Hurts to get up, but nothing which would make me think it's infected.

It's very normal to be more tender in that area, but please do let Dr. Davis know of your concerns. I ended up having a hernia repaired ten days after my RNY.

Thankfully it wasn't a hernia!  It ended up being a build-up of fluid and when I went to Dr. R Davis today he ..ahem...lanced it! Yuck! He released a lot of the pressure underneath it and hopefully I should be back to healing.  Hope that gave you a warm, fuzzy feeling! LOL!! Bleh!
