traveling Thursday wls express
Good morning all! Reading your posts today is finally getting me in the Christmas spirit-DANNI and ALISSA-I can FEEL your excitement!!
Christmas Eve is always at my house-sub sandwiches, SANTA Fe (usually SANTE Fe, but renamed for the night) soup, and whatever chips, etc, etc everyone else brings. Christmas mid-morning we go to my sister's house for an un-hurried brunch. We haven't done "big lunches" since my grandparents died, and we like it so much better this way-no rushing around, etc-all very laid back...
Yesterday Santa Claus came to work (I work in a nursing home)-in a helicopter...with lots of elves...it was GREAT..our residents were overjoyed...people get worked up over giving to kids--which is wonderful, of course--but so many of our geriatric population have NOBODY to love them/give them gifts, etc. I wish y'all could have seen their little faces. I adopted "Victor". He was a Colonol in WWII. He didn't want to go to the party at first. I told him I needed a "date". He said "Haven't you ever heard of "flying solo"? He used to be a bomber pilot. He finally agreed to go with me. He wound up getting on stage with Santa and singing louder than anyone-and knew EVERY word-just blew me away. Normally he's a mean, cussing old codger (any wonder why I was drawn to HIM????). Now he's my new best friend...I think we're engaged...
Time to get out the door..got ZILCH actual WORK done yesterday...have Keno party tonight, so will be out past my "gown thirty" bedtime again...sigh...sucks to get old...fancy party tomorrow night with former job-nice of them to invite me...Saturday my sister graduates from ITT computer school, so will busy with that...always SOMETHING..lol ...to keep me from sleeping
Traveling prayers for all those venturing out. Please stay SAFE !

Good Morning everyone,
Well, I am employed after 4 months of looking provided I pass the background check and the drug screening. Woohoo. And better yet, I don't start til January 5th so I get to enjoy Josh's full visit. I got the call yesterday at almost 5 with the offer. The pay isn't the best, the hours aren't the best, and the location isn't the best, but theirs room for growth, there's better hours available eventually and they even have offices in other parts of the metroplex, so I decided to go for it. I will be a processor which won't even have me working with clients, so that will be very different for me too. I'm excited to just have a job at this point with the opportunity to grow. Thanks for all the well wishes everyone.
Safe travels for those leaving out today. Matt and I will be staying here for Christmas. Matt works Christmas day so that won't allow for travel, not that finances allowed travel anyway. But Josh is coming here so I want to be here for him.
Saying prayers for all of you. Have a great day everyone.

So all you folks who are traveling, please be careful out there, it's a crazy time to be flying or driving anywhere!
Hugs, Mari
I had a great time last night. Brenda came over for dinner and we ended up chatting till midnight! LOL, late night but definitely worth it with great company. Today is a regular work day, doing a year end review with my manager and wrapping up as much as I can before our holiday. Tomorrow I've only got to work 1/2 day, but then I'll have to head down to the old office to pick up some computer accessories they are shipping to me. I think I might end up with another monitor, and I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it. LOL, I've already got 1 computer, 1 laptop and 2 monitors on my desk here.
I've also decided I'm not going to worry about the problem with my time off until next year. The system will borrow 3 days from my time next year and then we can figure it out after the 1st. If I lose the time, oh well. I have a job and a great manager and I'm betting we can work something out for taking some unofficial time off next year if needed.
Hope everyone has a fantastic day!!

I have all my shopping done except for my dad and a few gifts that I am making... a CD calendar and some photos that I'm having framed. Going to try and venture out today to get my hair done.... hopefully it won't be overdoing it! It's amazing how much better you can feel after just a few days!!!! I am so happy with my results even with the swelling!!!!!
Wishing everyone a wonderful day and sending prayers and ((hugs)) to all who need them today!!!

Counting down the minutes till 1:15 tomorrow...then its two weeks off and out of here(well out of work anyway)! We aren't going anywhere, but I am liking the thought of sleeping in! I do have a date with my closet!!! Dirk keeps teasing me about it... he'll say things like "did you hear that?" and of coarse I will say "what?" and he'll answer something like "it was the closet and it was saying nanny nanny booboo!" He was looking for a shirt the other day and couldn't find it- I suggested that it might be in the closet. I then told him that losing a shirt in that closet would NOT be unheard of....losing Jimmy Hoffa in that closet could even be possible. I have taken over a dresser, a chest-of-drawers and all but about 2 feet of the walk in closet. I have about three bins of clothes in the bedroom too. And there's more in the storage buildings.......
It's kind of like the ginsu commercials when the guy says "but WAIT!! There's MORE!"
Still no wrapped presents under the tree. I went shopping for a new dress and boots last night. (I was emotionally preparing myself for dealing with the closet lol)
Love you guys!
