4 months post op and it is starting...

I am four months post op and have had a super experience and would do it all again in a heartbeat.  I am starting to notice that my hair is thinning and I think I am in a slight panic.  My hair was very fine before so it is super straight and never held curl but looked healthy.  I would love to hear from anyone who has a similar hair type.  How long was it before your hair started thickening again?  I have been taking Biotin once a day for about four months and I use a special CHI shampoo that is supposed to prevent additional thinning.  I know it is part of the process but not really liking it at all!

Thanks in advance!

Honey, I am right there with you!!! I am also over 4 months out and there is so much hair on my pillow, in the shower, on the bathroom floor. It is crazy!!! I would like to know of a way to fix this too.

The answer is PROTEIN, PROTEIN, PROTEIN.  Get it any way you can.  I'm 11 months out and went through it and now my hair is just fine.  Don't worry.  It's not a permanent problem.

Thanks, Lisa.  I am trying to boost my protein intake.  I drink protein shots (but hate them) and try to get in as much as possible in food and protein shakes.  How do you get all of your protein during the day?

I just read that Zinc helps to stimulate hair growth.  I've been taking it for about a year (due to plastics) and my hair is completely back to normal after having lost over 50% of it.  So it's worth a try.

Hair loss is a side affect the majority of us have dealt with, some worse than others.  The Biotin has helped some, it did nothing for me.  I also used Nioxin shampoo, which helped mine grow in faster, others had no luck with it.

Because of the little amounts you can intake and the affects of the anesthesia it's going to happen.  Try as hard as you can to get in enough protein.  The hair loss last for about 3-4 months, you will see little pieces of hair growing back in fairly quickly.

Some people cut their hair shorter, the less stress on your hair seems to help too.  Also cutting it to make it appear thicker during this time makes the lose less noticable to others, even when you (we) freak out at seeing the hair loss.

Hey, Juliet!  It has gotten much better now that I am at 6 months out.  The shorter haircut definitely helped, too!  I have been taking Biotin and have used a Chi shampoo for thickening hair.  I also switch out from time to time and use Fat Hair which is effective and a *****eaper.

I hit the -92 pound mark this morning!  INot to shabby for 6 months but I have 44 pounds to goal.  I am hoping to lose 8 more pounds before the end of the month.

I have tried several protein powders and have finally found the absolute best ones!  I love Max Protein from our GNC.  They are buy one, get one 50% off this month.  A little pricier than some of the others, but so much better.
