so im from the dallas area and im getting my gastric sleeve on august 13th. Im 18 and i currently weigh 244 anyways...
im starting my pre op liquid diet august 3th, my surgeon said i didnt have to lose any weight but the idea of all liquids still scares me.
my dear grandma takes my family and I out to eat at least once a week. She doesnt know yet and im afraid to tell her. I also dont know how shes going to react to me not going to dinner with her anymore. Any good ways to help her understand that ill be ok and it will all be worth it?
how was the liquid you have to drink the night before? i heard its awful, like sleep on the bathroom
im also starting college august 25th, do you think thats enough time to recover?
I weighed 313 pounds on December 1, 2008 the day of my RNY surgery and have lost 81%
of my excess body weight to-date. Current as of November 1, 2009
OH Mini-Challenge Goal for New Year's Day is 170 pounds. 11 pounds to go!

as far as recovery before school starts... I would say it would depend on the school load/hours/walking distances etc.... I could have done some a week later but not a ton of walking/stairs and 8 hrs up...
I am glad to hear that you are addressing this early in life... I am 48 and wish I had done it years earlier..... several yrs ago, insurance companies and docs would not approve young people.... things have come a long way
best wishes
Vicki
That being done....I did NOT post that to make you leave us. We are SO PROUD of every young person taking charge of their life at a young age. My friend Robin S's son....Tyler is having the Sleeve done on Aug. 3rd (I believe). He is 18 also. Anyway congrats. Oh I know nothing of a 2 night liquid to drink before surgery. All surgeons are so different....but the liquid diet isn't all that bad. Stop drinking sodas right now and also try to not eat and drink together....wait 30 minutes between each. We are ALL here for you to support and encourage you and be your cheerleader if need be during your WL process. As for the grandma.....let her know....be truthful....let her know you are doing this so you will lead a LONG, HEALTHY life. We are here for you...good luck and please don't be a stranger to us here....and welcome to the TMB !!!!
Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian
GOD GRANT ME THE SERENITY TO ACCEPT THE THINGS I CAN NOT CHANGE; COURAGE TO CHANGE THE THINGS THAT I CAN; AND THE WISDOM TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE !!!! THIS IS MY DAILY PRAYER.
