I am in need to some reading materials and headed to our small town library tomorrow.

I really LOVE Texas based books and authors (NOT western's though) and wondering if anyone has any suggestions. I have read all the books written by these Texas authors:

Susan Wittig Albert (her daughter was my best friend in middle school)
Jeff Abbott (except for his new one - which is not at library yet)
Rick Riordian

Would love any suggestions anyone has.....

hey there GUERA
,
The only author from Texas I know is one of my attorneys.  His name is Carlos Cisneros.  He wrote a John Grisham-y type of book, the setting is down here in the RGV.

Its called The Case Runner.  It won Best Mystery Novel in English at the 11th Annual International Latino Book Awards in May '09.

Hope this helped.

Hey Sexy Tip of Tejas gal:

Added him to my list....Until school starts (8/31) I have to keep my brain from going totally AWOL on OH and FaceBook....

We had hoped to make it to the Valley to see one of our best friend's who lives there, but does not look like it will happen due to money....But -someday soon - I hope. And then we can have coffee together....

Try this, it's free to join(you list 10 books and you get 2 credits to order books with...then you keep listing books and when people order yours you pay media mail rates(less than $3) to ship them and get more credits to order books for yourself.  I've saved a TON of $ doing this and I've gotten sent out 160 and received 160 books back).  Most books you get are hardback not necessarily paperback:

Janet Daily wrote a series of books about a family of Calder's.

The Calders had a ranch in Texas and drove the cattle to Montana.  Then there was a ranch in both states.  It goes through several generations of Calders and their trials and tribulations.

I have read the entire series and found them very good.  Of course, my maiden name was Calder so I was hooked from the beginning.

I highly recommend them.
