Topic: RE: Struggling with myself
I don't know about the smokes part but the eating part is hard. I guess I wanted the surgery more than I wanted the food I was craving.

Maybe this will help motivate you,,,some surgeons check for nicotine in the blood before starting surgery. How wouold you feel if he cancelled your surgery because you had had a smoke or two?

Good luck,
Holly

Topic: Struggling with myself
Hello Everyone...I am really struggling with myself! I am on week 2 of Chantix as well as healthy eating before my surgery. I am here at home all day except to go to store or doc. I am bored as hell!!! NO motivation at all. I can talk the talk all day long but WHY can't I seem to walk the talk.? I know i have to be smoke free and healthy somewhat for surgery. I know this but getting there seems impossible! Well today it seems impossible. I wake up thinking of food and a smoke. Had to go grocery shopping yesterday...did NOT buy a pack of smokes. But I did smoke 2 yesterday from a neighbor. It is driving me nutts that I have disapointed myself and my family once again.
Ok gotta go wipe the tears.

So the question is:
How did you kick yourselves in the ass to  get where you needed to be?

May the wind always be at your back and the shinning sun be on your face.

I am already signed up to attend. Really looking forward to it! I see many of these speakers at the Meet and Greet in Vegas this year, and of course, BTV interviewed Erin recently. Thanks for hosting this!

Topic: Dr. Weaver's leave of absence
A patient of Dr. Weaver at St. Francis/Memphis posted on the band forum that Dr. Weaver has been on an extended leave of absence since this spring and won't return until November. I like and admire Dr. Weaver and hope she's OK. Also, I've heard from other patients that the new bariatric surgeon at St. Francis is anti-band, which makes a bandster like me worry about having to deal with him if I have problems in the future. Does anyone know what's going on?

Thanks,
Jean

Topic: RE: So very confused!!
This won't directly answer your question, but it's something I think you need to consider when deciding how to proceed.

I live in NW Tennessee and know a variety of WLS patients in this area. I've also listened to other patients talking in the waiting room at my surgeon's office (Dr. Weaver at St. Francis in Memphis).  Not once have I heard anything good about Dr. Woodman. Apparently he's technically a good surgeon but has the bedside manner of Attila the Hun. I've heard a lot of stories of Woodman chastising, scolding, and/or yelling at struggling patients, and stories of patients leaving his office in tears, and stories of patients desperate to find a new surgeon after dealing with Woodman. Since success with the band requires a lot of aftercare and a good working relationship with your surgeon, I would not have band surgery done by Dr. Woodman.
