I scheduled my sleeve surgery with Dr. Olsen on December 13! I hope your surgery goes super, super smoothly!

My surgery is set for Dec. 5th with Dr. Olsen.  He can be a little off-putting at first with direct nature.  He's not at all a "warm and fuzzy" surgeon, but I've heard nothing but great things from his past patients.

I did not have a good experience with Vanderbilt.  Centennial is much more personal and their staff has been so great about communication.  I highly recommend Centennial!

Each policy is different even within BCBS TN depending on the employer. The best place to start would be calling the customer service number on the back of your insurance card. Ask them what the requirements are for your particular policy.

You can find out if the surgeon you are interested in is in network for your particular policy. You can also get names of other surgeons/centers that are in network if your preferred surgeon is not.

Then contact the surgical center and see what their process and requirements are. Most surgical centers and insurance companies are going to require a letter from your primary doctor. If you don't already have a primary, you will want to get one.

Well, it has been a little over a year since I had my VSG. I weighed in at my annual visit at 158 lbs which makes a total weight loss of 144 lbs. This has been a wonderful journey. I have reached my goal of having a normal BMI. Now I am going to focus on toning and maintained this healthy weight.
