Topic: RE: Dr Wegner- Memphis?
I am not exactly sure. I know he takes United Healthcare. I am sure there are probably very few types of insurance that they would not try to work with. I have United Healthcare and I know they accept it, but the surgery was specifically excluded from my plan by my employer.

Congrats on getting your surgery date! Do you know what type of insurance is accepted by Dr. Wegner?

I see that your surgery was scheduled for today. How did it go? I hope all is well! BTW, what type of insurance do you have?

I had my surgery at Centennial Medical Center, and they have an awesome team to help you manage your weight and a staff of Nutritionists and exercise physiologist. I think there is a fee for transferring into their program if you didnt get your surgery through them based on some other posts.
You can check their website - they have a list of support groups, many oe started by former patients all around the state. They have a psychologist led support group as well. I don't know if that one is just for patients of theirs or open to the public. You can always ask.

Topic: WLS support groups Memphis TN area
Hi there, I had rny surgery 6 months ago in ND. I am moving back to the Memphis area and will be looking for a support group to attend. I will be followed by my PCP while I am there. If you have any suggestions I would love to hear from you.

Topic: RE: Post-Op Eating
It really depends on which surgery you are having on what you'd need to cook. With the DS (what I had) we are encouraged to eat fattier stuff, not low fat, since we malabsorb so much. You'd need a Paula Deen cookbook for us, lol! Butter butter everywhere!

My surgery date is 01/09/2012 with Dr. Wegner. I have been in 3 different programs since I started the process 3 years ago and the St. Francis program made me feel the most comfortable. I never once saw any of the surgeons with the other programs. I have seen Dr. Wegner 3 times total now (seminar, tiny group meeting in waiting room, one on one) and will be meeting with him again on 12/21/11. He is a very kind man but will tell you exactly what he thinks based on research, clinical data, etc. I have not met Dr. Weaver but I have heard nothing but good about her. I just went with Dr. Wegner because at the seminar he was exactly what I was looking for in a suegeon. Good luck!
Topic: Need some help!!
I am in need of finding some kind of back on track program and support group meetings. Possibly free due to the fact that i dont have any insurance to cover. I have gained weight since my surgery 8 years ago and in some guidance to get me back on track. Thanks
