Topic: Pain Managment after WLS
I've had back problems for about 15 years and before wls I took NSAIDS to keep the pain under control. (I had my GB in 08)  Over the past two years my back issues have gotten progressively worse and I'm not sure what else to do or where else to go.    I've been on tramadol for 2 years and they have stopped working.  I'm currently weaning myself off of them because, even though they were supposed to be non addictive the withdrawls from those are a b**ch!

So my question is have any of you had the same issues and if so how did you handle it?  The docs I've seen think I'm just drug seeking and I'm truly not. I tell them I can't take NSAIDS and they roll their eyes...I tell them my body doesn't obsorb meds like others and they think I'm being difficult.

I just want to not hurt....and I don't know how to make that happen.

Any advise is very much appreciated!

Topic: Old Question -- New Frustration
Yeah,  I have been on an off these boards for YEARS.  I went to a seminar at Cenntenial and even started the 6 month process of seeing my doctor monthly only to find out that they no longer accept Amerigroup.   That was back in 2010.   Let's just say that I gave up.

Being heavy.   It's like living in a prison.   I am looked down on by every one...even more so because I am a woman.  What makes it worse is that my job didn't offer insurance.  I was laid off after 8 years due to take over in March and was able to get back on Medicaid only to find that while they cover WLS not a single doctor in the state will accept it.

It's enough to make you tear your hair out.  I want it so bad.  I am getting older now (33) and my body is breaking down.  It's getting more and more painful to live day to day.

I keep hoping that if I wait long enough,  something will change,  a doctor/surgery center will finally get their heads out of their asses and do something for those of us who are unfortunate enough to be stuck with state insurance.  I am willing to jump through any hoop they require if they'd only save my life.

Where is my pro bono surgeon angel when I need him?

Topic: RE: Amerigroup / Middle Tennessee?
I am currently on the look out for a surgeon who accepts Amerigroup.  I am willing to travel up to 100 miles outside of Nashville.  I already know that the doctors at Centennial do not accept it.  It's so frustrating when the insurance covers it but the doctors won't accept it!!!

Topic: Shaky and internal restless
I'm three years post op bypass. So is my wife. From time to time, we both get a very shaky feeling and very restless internally. We yearn for something to eat, but don't know what. The only thing that makes the feeling go away is time, but there is a very strong desire for something. Anybody have any ideas?  It's not dumping and I have checked my blood sugar during an episode, it was fine.

Second issue is my stomach has gotten very sensitive lately, can't eat much.  I'm down to 142 pounds. I'm a 6ft male.  Skinny as a rail and still loosing. Ideas would be appreciated.

 Welcome!

I am also a centennial patient.  I was sleeved by Dr. Houston on 11/2.  I couldn't say enough good things about the man.

The entire staff there is incredible!  The support groups are absolutely the best.  I was truly blessed to find them.

I've written about some of my experiences on my blog.  Check it out.  If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Congratulations and best of luck to you!  You're in great hands.
