They say you learn something new every day...  and I must admit that I've never read this study before...  I am saving it and placing it in my "Personal" file....

I've seen folks who like the "double scoop" method with their protein powders.  My train of thoughts tends to be, why get it all in one drink and put all those calories in just one, when I could break them down into 2, and enjoy one in the morning, one in the afternoon?

Later in the weight loss journey, a lot counts on CALORIES.  Early on when we aren't able to eat much, and depend so religiously on our protein shakes...  double scooping may have its advantages (though, I have never practiced double scoops).  But, later when we are able to eat more, able to enjoy food more, yet have to watch calorie ingestion...  double scooping tends to be a bad idea, IMHO.

Have you tried using any of the RTD proteins in a larger cup of coffee? You may like Pure Protein, Oh Yeah, Muscle Milk, or Labrada RTD. That would still give you 20-25 grams of protein but with more coffee.

You can find these RTDs at The Vitamin Shoppe, Whole Foods and online. I'm not sure if GNC carries any of them or not as I don't shop there. Someone else may be able to tell you if GNC carries any of them.

Thank you Michael. I knew I'd read the study before, just didn't remember where to go to find it and haven't had time to search again.

I beg to differ that there has been a study...

There has been a study and it does state that the body will only absorb (in general) 25-30g per sitting, but still determined by the individual as we are all different.

here is an article to the study: jn.nutrition.org/cgi/content/full/128/10/1716

ALL patients should be following the guidlines of their own surgen/Nut on all food intake and choices.

Most centers state that 25-30g is all that is obsorbed.  You are basicly "wasting" the rest of protein.  There is no benefit or ill effect if you eat more than this amount.

And you certainly should. My post was directed to the OP.
Carry on....

I am new to the board but I am in my 4th month of doctor's visits. I am a teacher and have the Cigna POS. I have to get my 5 year records turned in, psych eval, and surgeon's appt. How long after turning everything in will I have the go ahead to have the surgery? Also, how much did the surgery cost you after insurance had paid. I just want to make sure that I have the money available and that I am not scrambling to come up with it. Thanks!
