I really respect the man. He is very skilled and has a pretty good sense of humor. He cares about his patients as people. He does the four major WLS (band, DS, RNY, and sleeve) and does all of them well. Word of warning from a DS patient: he does not easily agree to any request for a DS. It has the most malabsorption and he wants to make sure his patients know the importance of post-op follow up and supplementation. If you are thinking of the DS, be sure you've done your research before you see him. He'll want solid reasons from you and assurance that you understand the importance of post-op care.
Best wishes whatever you decide.

Are you looking into RnY bypass or Duodenal Switch? Please research both intensively before choosing one. I was unaware of the DS until I read about it on the main board.
Welcome again and good luck in your research.
I live in Al but work at Centennial Med Ctr. where Dr Houston is. He has always had a good rep. around the hospital and the community. (I have asked around about thim). I could find no one to say anything bad about any of the md's in the office.

Yep it's true...after my visit with my PCP on Monday I will have completed (3) of my (6) month's visits. It is going pretty fast and I can hardly wait. I am looking at getting my approval papers sent in the 3 week of August. I am hoping to have my surgery September or October. I'm hanging in with things, been alot going on with the Parker's. Things are slowly coming into place, still have a few things to deal with but all in all we are doing good.
Hope everyone has a great weekend.
Cheryl
I've not posted in a while and thought that I needed to share.
I have noticed that I was starting to go back into bad habits with eating and carbs etc. So I decide to the basics and do the 5 day pouch test. I'm now on the 3rd day but so far so good.
I found a new protein shake that I made:
Syntha-6 Vanilla - 1 scoop
4oz of silken tofu
1-2 tablespoons of sugar free strawberry jam (or a couple of frozen strawberries)
about 8 oz of water.
I blended it up in a magic bullet.
Great!
Also another thing that is good is 1 hard boiled egg cut up with about 1/2 cup of low fat cottage cheese and a little salt and pepper. This is a great breakfast.
Michael.
