Hi,

I just wanted to let you know that I'm in the same boat with you.  I had my surgery on August 11, 2004.  Lost a lot of weight.  Got pregnant and gained it all back plus a lot more.  My highest has been 528.  I now weight 517.

I finally found someone who is helping me.  He is great and so is his staff.  I have seen Dr. Kirk Sahagian two times now.  I have lost 10 pounds this last month.  But it's a daily struggle for me.  It's very hard for me to lose the weight and I also get very easily depressed.

I think I would recommend you finding a surgeon who will see you if at all possible.  Do your lab work and make sure levels are where they are supposed to be.  Make sure you are taking your vitamins and calcium with D3.

My doctor wants me to weigh once a week on Mondays (or whatever day).  Count my carbs and get less than 35 per day.  Count my protein and make sure I am getting at least 80 grams per day.  I now take my vitamins/calcium more regular.  For a while I wasn't taking them at all.  I take a pre-natal multivitamin once in the morning and once before bed.  Then scattered through the day (3 times per day) I take my dose of calcium with D3.  Make sure you take your calcium at least two hours after your vitamins so you absorb more of what you need.

I have Amerigroup (state insurance).  My old surgeon left and I found a new one who is very caring and concerned.

I would love to talk to you more.  If you would like to talk to me you can anytime on here or just email me for a faster response.  My email is [email protected].

I wish you all the best.  Maybe we can do this together.  Looking for support too.

Julie

I don't know how far you are from Lebanon, but there is a great support group that meets on the 4th Tuesday of every month at 6:00 p.m.  The next meeting is this coming Tuesday at the local hospital.  You may email me for more information if you want to.  [email protected].

I had my surgery in 2004.  Gained back my weight after my pregnancy and now I'm getting back on track to losing again and have lost 10 pounds so far.

*By the way...the group is for all people who have had or are interested in having surgery.  Doesn't matter what doctor or where you had or want to have surgery.

Topic: Help finding obese friendly doctors in Nashville

Hello everyone, I am trying to find an obese friendly Doctor in Nashville, TN.  I have been home bound and not seen a doctor in nearly 10 years, I am 6'0 and around 500lbs and need to find a physician to start seeing that actually knows the ups and downs of an obese patient and that can deal with normal things and gynecological problems as well if possible.  Before I stopped leaving my home, the doctors I would go see weren't always very friendly and their offices were definitely not set up to deal with a patient of my size.

I could really use your help if any of you know of any really nice, caring, friendly, non judgmental physicians that take time with their patients where I can start getting everything checked out and in order to hopefully be able to get surgery at some point.  Thanks so much for your help.

Wendy

PS

Oh, I have Medicare part A & B if that might help.

Did you read the whole thread? My advice to the OP is the same for you. Your sleeve still works, you just have to use it correctly. You took it off once, you can do it again!

Thanks Holly, I wrote down the amts again and am putting them back on the fridge. I am almost 3 yrs out and have also gained 10 lbs.  Time to lose it and another 10 would be awesome.  Thanks for the reminder.

Hey Lisa, I think you just described what we are all afraid of.  I had my surgery 3 yrs ago and have maintained the size 8/10 but the 8's are getting a little tight since put on 10 lbs.  I am with you that it can be tough.  I am freaked out now because I need to hear these stories that we do gain when we eat too much or bad.  I already realize I am on a slippery slope and need to get it back under control now.  What area are you in?  I am in Murfreesboro.  I wrote back in Jan that I wanted to find a support group but then never did.  I really do think those will probably help.  I have my 3 yr post op appt with Vanderbilt (where I had my surgery) in July and I am told it really does help to keep those appointments for the rest of your life in case you need help from them getting back on track.  I will be honest this year when I see them as I eat too much, and eat bad stuff (started eating bread a little more and am a candyaholic), drinking diet coke again, and I don't exercise regularly.

I just had a thought, I will keep a food journal for a couple weeks.  Maybe if I write it down I will be less likely to put it in my mouth.

Anyways, good luck Lisa and if you are close by let me know.

Hello Lisa. Thank you for taking the time to post here. It takes great strength to seek help and I'm hoping you find it here. Truth is I'm starting on my  RNY weight lost journey. It hasn't even been a week since I went under the knife. Perhaps, I'm not the best person to talk about regain weight support. What I can give you is encouragement. Set up your new virtual WLS date as of today and start over. Go through your house and get rid of those bad foods, shop for the fruits and veggies, start controlling your portion size and view some of the positive comments on this board. You can be such an important influence on people here by sharing your pitfalls and struggles in effort to help us avoid them in the future.

You can do it and good luck in the near future!
