I like Nectar - by Syntrax. They have many flavors and you can get the "shake" kind or a "juice" kind. I have tried the Nectarine/Orange flavor and now am trying the Cherry flavor. I add in Crystal light drink mix to add flavor and make it a bit sweeter.
I buy mine at the Vitamin Shop on Poplar. It has like 23 g. of protein per scoop.

Hey Ya'll. I'm in Germantown. I had the Lap Band done by Weaver almost 1.5 years ago. I go to a support group meeting once a month in Oakland...not far for most of you....We meet at a friends house...It's just 3 of us, but we would love to have more join in. I am the only lap-bander. The other 2 gals have had the RNY.
We're meeting tomorrow night (8/18 @ 7p) if you want to come let me know! I'm on Facebook as well, add me if you like Facebook/Cathlena Hinkle

Topic: RE: Loosing weight before surgery
Thanks so much for your input, I had my 1st visit with the Dr today, and I plan to get myself used to what I will be eating. Good Luck!
Topic: RE: Loosing weight before surgery
I'm still at the beginning of my journey. I'm 3 weeks post-op and I had to do the 2week pre-op liquid diet. I also had to do 6 months of diet and exercise. I started adding in protein about 3 months before surgery trying to find what would work best for me. It doesn't hurt to start early, just make sure you are comfortable with your choices. I wish I would have eaten a few more of my favorites before the pre-op diet just to say good-bye to them.

The beauty of a woman is not seen through what she wears. It is seen through how she carries herself and the way she doesn’t allow herself to settle. Don’t ever let anyone take for granted the beauty that is within you. Stand firm and know that you’re a wonderful person. Always remember your value and respect yourself. I’m so blessed to have you in my life. Sometimes we all need to be reminded how special we really are!

Topic: Round Two...
Hey All,
Just thought I'd throw up a quick post.. see if anyone had any advice or words of wisdom on a couple things. A quick idea of what's going on is I'm scheduled for the second time for surgery. The first time I got to the table but surgery was aborted on account of a nosebleed. A hematologist and 2 blood panels later, I'm scheduled again for the 24th. Now for what's going on..
First, it could just all be in my head, but this time is soooo much harder for my pre op diet... It really makes me wonder about sticking to the post op diet. Last time I didn't really have any problems other than craving a grilled cheese sandwhich (like on day 9 of the 10 day diet my surgeon uses)... I've got good support (my wife had a RNY the end of May) so I'm not sure where the difference is coming from. But this time, it's been near constant for the last 2 days for craving/hungry for something... It's just confusing considering the almost opposite experience I had the first time.
Second, I'm much more nervous about going into surgery this time. The first time wasn't exactly what I was expecting on any scale (even being told before what goes on after you arrive and getting you ready).. Every time someone talks to me about the surgery, I can literally feel my blood pressure going up (which was normal to start off with, but has gone up some since the 1st surgery was aborted) and I'm starting to wonder if my bp is going to get so high on the next round that they have to abort or cancel again. I can slow it down with a little time when I'm at home or work, but I'm not so sure I'll be able to calm down at the hospital.
So there it is.. Any words of wisdom or suggestions?

Topic: RE: Where did my will power go?
As I approach my two year point, I'm not going to lie. It never gets easier - maintenance is so hard and I have just lost 3 of the 5 lbs I've regained. But you CAN do it - mine isn't about vanity size 2 or anything, it's about me not wanting to go back to the diabetes meds or anything like that. You can do this and it starts with being accountable to yourself but also forgiving yourself. That was really hard to do at first but I've started doing that and it makes the mental aspect a bit more bearable.
