Thanks Chrissy
Thanks for the info, I'm actually going to the seminar today, and yes, I'll go out and read your reviews.
Again, thanks for the info, it was very helpful. I'm sure we will be talking again soon :-)

I replied to your other post about Chattanooga surgeons, but I figured I'd weigh in here too :)
I personally used my PCP simply because she already had records of my weight for several months, which shortened the length of time that I was required to wait. I had a Cigna PPO that required 3 months and, by the time my PCP got my info together, we already had 3 months documented and I was good to go!
Best of luck!

Hello, fellow Chattanoogan! I had surgery (VSG) in July at Memorial Northpark with Dr. Jack Rutledge. I had an amazing experience with him and his staff. Everyone in his office goes above and beyond their call of duty. Without the insurance specialist in the office, I'm sure that I wouldn't have been approved. Before you can make an appointment with him (or any of the other WLS surgeons at Memorial), you have to attend a Bariatric Seminar that they hold once a month - it gives really great information and you can get a chance to meet the counselor who does the psych consult for the WLS insurance requirements.
I reviewed Dr. Rutledge here on OH. Feel free to look up my review and message me with any questions about my experience.

Thanks so much DeathStar! That makes me feel better to know they are both good. I do have an appointment with Dr. Spaw and will call Dr. Houston on Monday to schedule something. I've been trying the calorie counting method (the most recent attempt among millions of approaches) and I'm shocked by the number of calories by the end of the day. Ugh. I'm hoping this will be a better option as a tool to keep my portion sizes reasonable. Any info on how your sleeve is going and what I need to know would be great! Thanks again.
I had my sleeve with Dr. Houston. My mom had her surgery done by Dr. Spaw. Both are extremely competent. If you can, speak with them both and see who you like better. Dr. Houston is very... brusque, but I like that. He doesn't bull**** you at all. That made me trust him.

Help! I can't figure out who to choose for my sleeve surgery! I'm torn between Dr. Houston and Dr. Albert Spaw. I've read tons of good things about Dr. Houston, but never saw Dr. Spaw mentioned on the forums until I did a "search". Then, those threads said good things about him, too. I'm confused now. What do you think? Thanks!
